The video today gave me nice memories of the high Sierra in California. I lived near Yosemite for 35 years. Thank you. I dearly miss my wildlife sightings in the ❤️👍🏻mountains.

They did the same thing here in Missouri. The Katy Trail used to be the Katy railroad and now it is a walking/biking trail that stretches half way across Missouri. It goes through many small towns and communities.

I grew up in Harrogate, off Shawanee Rd. and the train tracks ran along the back edge of our property. Back in the early & mid 70's my brothers and I used to get on the tracks and walk thru both tunnels all the way to Middlesboro. When we'd had enough fun for the day we'd hitch a ride back over the mountain and ask to be dropped off near the Little Tunnel Inn. Oh the rotten things my brothers and i used to get into! Thanks for the memories.

Wow! That did not feel like 18+ minutes. It seemed more like 5 minutes. That means I was into it. Cumberland Gap is very beautiful. I've been there three times. I've not seen the tunnels but I've been to the Pinnacle Overlook. I need to get my bottom motivated to get out and see some of these things. Nice video, man; truly! And I'd like to see if you can come up with another Cumberland Gap video in the future. Thank you for taking the time to adventure, film and share. I do appreciate it!

I can’t believe all the times we’ve stayed there when I was doing environmental construction work in Tazwell I never knew about that tunnel that went went right under the highway that we took every morning. Of course we always went under the bridge before the hotel on the right. But never knew it led to a tunnel. Thanks for taking me back to memory lane. It was my home away from home

I always wonder why we stopped putting character and details into our more modern architecture. I love seeing the historical parts of whatever it is, be it a bridge, a building or anything. It's unbelievable how they now have easier techniques to build all of the various architecture, yet they choose not to use it to their advantage. I enjoyed this video Jon and would be more than happy if you did more of these type of videos. Thank you for taking us with you and for putting the amount of work you do into your channel, which enables us to see these amazing locations.

Those cutouts in the tunnel are usually called "refuges" and you're right, Jon, they're places to duck into if you have to share the tunnel with a train. I saw a comment down below that said it looked like there was room enough in the tunnel for clearance between pedestrians and trains, but "Un-UN!" T'ain't so: stand too close to a moving train and all the displaced air can suck you right under it,even if it's moving at a relatively slow pace, which it probably wouldn't be doing; "Time is money." Nice video, Jon. Everybody stay safe---especially in tunnels!

Hi Jon, what a beautiful walk with all the green leaves filtering the sunlight, very pretty. I love that they did the old train tunnel up so they could preserve the history for years to come even though it did sound a bit spooky hearing the double footsteps. A great looking trail a shame many of the other disused railways haven't been converted for cyclist's & walkers, Love the look of the bridges with the roofs good idea to avoid the rain, But they done a awesome job on the tunnel & a great job for safety so bricks don't fall, the man hole cut outs look lower as they raised the ground a bit highter, not sure about the markers I thought they would have been miles markers for the railway workers.
