This is great fun. Just a little tip when servicing. When you remove the carburetor take the choke handle off the top and the small snub end is designed to stick into the fuel line as a stopper. You can then service the carburetor without having to clamp fuel lines.

Great video! Don't forget to oil the brass bushing on those clutches with a few drops of engine oil before each ride. They'll last much longer and operate smoother. If not the brass bushing will fail quickly then you'll have squealing, squeaking, grinding and the clutch locking up. Very important to oil them each ride.

@Junkyard Digs Keep this trick I devised years ago for the future when you do carburetor cleaning.. Try this... Heat the plastic tube from the carb cleaner spray with a lighter (about 1/4-1/2 inch from the end. Then pull on each end of the tube to stretch it. This makes the outer/inner tube diameter smaller and more of a pin point. When the melted plastic solidifies, use small wire nippers or nail clippers to snip the tube at the smallest diameter that still provides flow when spraying. The cleaner comes out like a pin point pressure washer and the shrunken plastic tube end fits snugly inside whatever port your spaying thru. You can also do the same to create 90 degree angles in the plastic tube to spray sideways inside long venturi tubes. (Like idle circuits) I used to make/keep custom tubes around for these situations. Hope this makes sense. Love your content!

Your comment about the fundamentals of driving with the young men was dead on point! My father built me a go-kart whenever I was 4 years old, he governed it to go a whopping 8 mph with a (of course a) Flathead 3 horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine considering I'm 52 years old. He then turned me loose on it and of course I wrecked into trees and fences and he always laughed and fixed it. It did teach me the fundamentals of driving whenever I started driving , I already knew what to do! But my first truck he gave me at the age of 14 which is a totalled out 75-year model Chevrolet short wheelbase truck that I had two years to build a engine, straighten the frame and do all the bodywork. ect. We on the Candy factory as I was growing up and he started me off at 8 years old on summer vacation working maintenance on all the wrapping machines and taught me how to weld, heli arc stainless and aluminum, run a lathe, milling machine and beginning's of fabrication of conveyor machines. You can get split timing advance keys for the flywheels on those engines and racing pistons. Take the governors out and change to straight tube exhaust headers. Get some split sprockets so you can tune your torque curve to your application. And can get jet kits for the carbs. I worked at a racing park for a while, maintaining karts with those engines. And when you do blow one up, go to harbor freight and buy a $100 replacement to start all over with.

The harbor freight engines aren't even worth getting these days. Best to spend a little extra on a Ducar or Tillotson and have a better quality starting point to work with, and more out of the box power than the Predator. The sound of the dual honda's brings me back, I used to go to a local kart track and they had the tarmac carts with dual engines and I used to LOVE ripping them around, beating all my friends. Sadly they are closed and I dont have the space for a kart but I would love to get back into it one day

11:46 I STRONGLY recommend that you remove the top mounted fuel tanks, and get two Honda fuel pumps which should have areas to mount on the engine, and then connect lines to the vacuum of the engines which they SHOULD have little areas for that, if not, forget about the tanks. BUT, you 100% should try and fine two Honda race carburetors, they are so easy to find, same with Honda race pipe exhausts. Cheap, simple, and it really helps the engine run smoother, and faster. Just make sure you find two carbs with a low slide, unless you want maximum power, then go for a black slide if you want max power.

hiya from Australia, not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but the round peg on the choke lever fits into the fuel hose to plug it off. great video thanks.

You are so right about starting out the kids young. All this will show when it comes to them driving their first car. Give you more piece of mind knowing they have already learned the driving experience. Also let them do the repairs on it. They need to learn that tearing it up costs time and money. Maybe they won't go and wreck their first car .and not go out and tear it up as well.

It‘s been a year now that you revived the dual-powered Groundhog, but as far as I know you never made a second video of it, or am I completely blind? It would be awesome to see this Go Kart gets some upgrades and then do the lap in the woods again! Best regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋
