Vibo was mostly known for making golf carts in the mid 60's, you can find them mentioned in vintage buyers guides for $800 new for 66/67. Unfortunately they were a build-to-order company resulting in impossible to find parts for the majority of the models nowadays. I don't believe anything was produced after the late 60's.

Very much wanted in the golf cart circles. It's a rare enough piece and they do go for good money even for parts.

I got bored and did some looking myself, can’t find anything about the utility carts like they found here, only the ones meant for golfers. Seems like their whole unique selling point at the time was the freewheeling capability and being able to be towed at highway speeds. President was apparently Bob Astley?

The VIBO is pretty cool. I'm sure eventually it will run great. It's hard to kill an old Wisconsin engine. I'm very happy that you saved it from the scrap pile. It seems like a very useful vehicle with the box on the back of it, and it's a rather unique vehicle.

Get the mechanical stuff in order, put some better off-road tires on it, and re-build/restore the exterior, and it would be a pretty neat run-around for the property. Not sure it would be worth the time and effort to do all that, though.

I haven't had such a good laugh for years! I have a bit of information on this type drive system: It is a Comet type clutch system, and requires a C section drive belt, 1" wide. The wheels and tires are regular golf cart type, commonly sold already mounted. The tires and rims are available from Tractor Supply. Four lug trailer tires use the same pattern, and you can get them at TSC or Hobo Freight. So, If you want to jack it up, just change the tires. Some ATV tires also may fit it easily with the golf cart rims??
@Harey0407
@Harey0407 2 жыл бұрын
As long as you can find the right width you should be able to find a set of atv tires that will fit. I have a machine that was at one point a lawn tractor and i put atv tires on the rear of it.

Try to solder/braze the steering box crack off with aluminum brazing rods (blue demon or alumiweld for example, those that can be used with a propane torch). Then put a gasket on the cover :-) Best thing would be to mig weld the crack back, but brazing might just do the trick if you don't have access to a mig welder.

I know I'm a year late... but just wanted to say that the VIBO was used as the go-to utility vehicle for golf courses back in the day. I worked as a caddy from 1959--62 in Virginia while in high school. We Would see these gems all around the golf course, carrying tools, lawn supplies, and other stuff for course maintenance and to rescue broken golf carts (and men). They were favored because they were very quiet and efficient, apparently requiring very little maintenance, and were able to zip around somewhere about 30-35 mph. Great memories.

Love to see old stuff like this get Phoenixed. A few years ago I salvaged an ZEZGo 850 4 stroke 1500 pound industrial cart similar to this that had been sitting for nearly 25 years - The orig owner had replaced the Robins engine with a similar Wisconsin. All I did was freed the steering, cut the brake hydraulics away and ran a couple of cables from the emerg brakes to the brake pedal, cut the mounting flange off the carb and made an adapter to accept an old Mikuni 250cc bike carb, replaced the fuel tank and battery, hit the starter and its been running ever since. I found pre-mounted 6 ply tires on sale at Northern for $200. It handily carries 25 fifty-pound feed bags on the original belt which is prob 45 years old.

I was almost going to subscribe when I saw you restoring that little yard truck, but then heard you grinding the gears right out of the box because you wouldn't pause the video and go get the correct length belt, or adjust the motor an inch or two closer to the gearbox so the belt you had would work fine and release correctly. You went from Macgyver to Whistlin'Diesel in one episode, destroyed what could've been fun. Why did you even spend time fixing the tires and steering then? You ground those tiny gearbox gears into metal shavings. Glad you got a good laugh out of it.

I am amazed that starter generator still worked that well. I’ve never found one that functioned after being abandoned

I used to maintain and repair a whole fleet of personnel carts like these, among a whole bunch of other equipment when working at the old Ford saline plant. Can't believe they scrapped most of them just before I left that company. I almost cried.

Love your videos. I use a small racket strap to pop those tires on the bead by running the strap around the tire on the tread . This squeezes the center in and beads out. ✌🏻

You and Mook make any engine revival fun and entertaining! I learn so much about engines and ignition systems while enjoying the content at the same time! I can't wait to see what you guys have in store for 2022!

Loved this video. The new house with a "racetrack" should add to a lot of really fun videos. Glad to see Mook back. Looking forward to some more videos.
