At mechanics tech school, 1980-82, we were taught to compression test a fully warmed-up engine. The heat and hand burns were no fun. Mechanic gloves were not yet invented. lol

Hey Puddin I remember that you put engine restore in and I have used it for years so calculate after 3-500 miles and do another compression check and I bet the numbers are higher. GOD bless you and your family

And don't forget that with the Quadrapig at full tilt you can wash them cylinders down with fuel (race car trick so ya can make tech spec) but it is a smog motor from the mid 70s so those numbers are close. Keep up the good fight.

Without talking about the "blue stuff" too much... And trying not to be too biased, because I do have a fair bit of experience with tires. I knew as soon as these white walls went on the truck, that we were going to get the "easy mode" demonstration of how easy 99% of all white walls clean up at some point on one of these channels... 🤣 Please note: Huge visual difference! In all my years, I have never seen "blue stuff" (The bluest of blue!) on tires like the ol' Toenails... It still blows my mind that you did it with a "decal remover", and how dang good it worked! You better believe I threw that technique into my future bag of tricks! This technique may even work for buffing out light scuffs on the white wall should it rub a curb. Worth a try I think... Anyway, I got a chuckle out of the hand wipe clean-up. (Umm, It was actually the "citrus" in the hand wipe that cleaned the tire... 🤣 Jokes) If this doesn't clear things up for a few folks, nothing will... 👏✌

One thing i remembered in regards to the blue goo, when i worked at honda bikes some of the cruisers came with the white walls factory fitted, usually michelins so a decent tyre, they came with the blue goop on them, all we did was spray some truck wash on em, let it sit for a few mins then change the nozzle on the pressure washer to the spinny one that ups the pressure and it took most of it off pretty quickly. I did watch the vid about your experiences and the experiment but cant remember if you did just try that. In regards to the compression it think the numbers are good, what do the manufacturers say they should be? If they are lower you could do a leak down to see if its valves. And the smoke is probably the valve stem seals from sitting for the 9 or so years before you got it. Can change em in the car to if you get a valve spring compressor tool, not all that hard. Hey Puddin, for poops and giggles you should try a little experiment... Put in a bottle of that liquid Engine Restore in the silver/grey bottle and see what it does. I've tried it myself and it actually worked and stopped smoking and raised compression on every cylinder. One thing I didn't do was to check it again after it had an extra 10,000 miles or so on it and see if it continued to keep compression, but it still wasn't smoking when I sold it.
