Looks like it will make a decent car, certainly did the right thing getting a new tank. I finished the restoration of my maestro efi last year and was a nightmare to get it running properly. Main culprit was horrible fuel that had been in there 12 years. I replaced everything in the system bar the tank as these are impossible to find for the maestro Best of luck with it. Cheers Russ

For my missus I bought a Spanish 1.1 auto MK2 Ford Fiesta in the fire red and bought a complete XR2 inside and out kit with wheels, bodykit, interior panels, shocks and springs, brakes I put the lot on and had a mate spraunce up the oxidised red paint so it gleamed like a brand new car inside and out and the only way you knew it was not quite a XR2 was the gear stick. My daily driver happens to be a MK2 Reliant Robin and I have toyed with making a XR1/bit, painting it white or red, modifying a XR2 bodykit and even look at the Fiesta dash to see if that could be modified to fit over the Reliant one or not but we shall see what is in store for my "Yorkshireman's Bentley"...

That’s actually pretty tidy for an old escort turbo normally everything underneath all the plastic they stuck all around them rotted away . Nice little project that engine sounded ok on and off to 🤣😜👍

That car used to belong to wayne its from Bristol he had it in a single garage hence why the paintwork is good the car itself was very slow and never ran very well ,I had a white mk 4 E reg rs turbo he had this one we cruised around together this was in the year 1999 2000

Hi lads. Engine tuner here that used to tune these for a living. You have to connect the boost pipes up for it to run at all. Its like disconnecting the MAF sensor on a modern car. As soon as the fuel pump is running that flap directly controls how much flow goes to the injectors. Even without the engine running. So just pushing the flap down whilst its still got fuel pressure is like pumping a webber 10 times or so. If you need a hand setting it up let me know. Need an excuse to come up to Gods country.

Its firing on cold start system then shutting down. Closed loop system you need to close all the air leaks on a KE

If you are still alive then ... 🤣 My most mouldy car was a 1972 Opel Kadett, which spent 20 years in a damp barn. I'd liked the furry dashboard - but disliked the green-blueish tint of it. It later ran under the name "Camenbert" and if anyone asked for the origin of that name my mate and I almost rolled on the floor laughing.

I am ashamed to say I abandoned an 89 RS turbo in the late 90's. Ended up taking £150 for it. Engine was fine, bulkhead had disintegrated.

Is that the CVH engine? I had that in a 1.8 Sierra. I hated it with a passion. It burnt oil, was scarcely quicker than the old 1.6, rattled like a bucket full of bolts by the time it left. Horrible engine. Perhaps I got a duff one, but for me that engine would be best melted down for spanners, or bean cans.

They weren't good. Or at least mine wasn't. Out of interest I checked the CVH on Wikipedia and it seems history has concurred with my view of the stinking scrapyard dodger. So, not just my one. I'd hate to pour a load of money into one of those and still have a rattler.

I recall back at school in 1990 or whenever, I priced up a Caterham kit car with a CVH fitted. Never had any means to pay for it, but it was fun to do ! Just the abbreviations CVH sounded cool, to me back then at least.

Ryan well done for getting it going, LEAVE THE FUEL DISTRIBUTION UNIT WELL ALONE these things can be reet bastards especially if left sitting with stale fuel for long periods of time best to leave it well alone until the whole system is piped up and only then will you be able to tell weather it's any good for the time being get a good dose of fuel system cleaner into it and let it sit and work quietly whilst you get on with the rest,remember that you can only adjust these correctly by use of a decent fuel pressure gauge and even then it's a bit of a dark art,give me a shout if you need any help / advice R.
