The cage was for two black bears, Molly and Dolly who were left to die by the owners of the park when the abandoned it. Local residents kept them alive until they were rescued by a wildlife preserve in Florida where they live to this day I believe.
@toml82277 жыл бұрын
I have just checked, Molly died in October 2013, I am not sure about Dolly (sisters), she is possibly still alive. They spent 6 years there after park was closed, for first 3 years someone was hired to look after of bears, but after that man was sent away and bears only survived because of help of local people.

I went to Frontier Town with my school on a Day Trip from Montreal in 1974. The price of a ticket was 1,25$ and that gave us access to a lift by bus and whole entire free tour with a lunch included. Seeing Frontier Town like this after over 40 years is like traveling in the past. Thanks. I'm really moved!! Lol!! Johnny, Montreal, Canada.

I had all but forgotten about Frontier town until I saw your video. My family went there probably around 1973 so I would have been about 4 or 5 years old. Of course when we got on the train the actors robbed the train and I got very upset not realizing that it was just an act. The actors were very good about it and removed they're kerchiefs so I could see their faces and they calmed me down. Hilarious. I can't remember if it was the same day or another time we went there but we rode on the stage coach and that was robbed so I got all scared again. I also remember I had the Frontier Town brochure in my desk for many years and would occasionally look at it. Thank you very much for posting the video and rekindling some childhood memories. It's too bad that places like this fell to the Wayside in favor of all the dumb personal electronics these days. Even though this town was loosely used as the inspiration for frontierland at Disney, Frontier Town was way better then frontierland could ever be.

It is a shame that it is abandoned it was a lovely park, we even went horseback riding there too. It really makes me feel sad knowing I was there and now its gone so heartbroken :( :(

My Dad and Mom took me here when I was 5 years old. It's so sad to see such a wonderful place reduced to ruins. The buildings were beautiful with little scenarios performed by the staff in costume, that bought the town to life. The Pony Express would ride into town, change horses and ride out again. There was a wonderful steam locomotive which gave visitors a ride through the park, and in true western tradition, had a "hold-up" before returning to the station. The bandits were, of course, captured by the sheriff and brought to justice - a firm dunking in the dunking pond with the cheering tourists in attendance! There was also a rodeo with bucking broncos, steer roping and trick riding! It breaks my heart to know that it is gone, but it lives on in my memories - thank you for bringing it all back to life for me!

@swordschannel37096 жыл бұрын
A symbol is representative of many things. Instead looking at how much damage the people who used it did, look on the bright side. A little research goes a long way.
@dougcasey61176 жыл бұрын
swords channel I understand but its kind of like the swastika was originally a good luck symbol, that isn't at all what is associated with it now is it? A flower can't cut or do damage that takes a sword, so it being a tool to a certain type of action or persons is a relevant observation to its use as a utility. All religions haven't caused even a countable million deaths, others carry toll's in the untold hundreds of millions like the one represented by the cross of Christ. Also, you should know and be aware that you don't know what I know, nor what level of knowledge I have on any given subject. Its been in my experience those that make such innuendo about my knowledge on this matter, have only feelings and culturally induced faith as their claim to knowledge or research. I find the Christian cross offensive on the level of one might say humiliation porn or pictures of dead puppies and about as spiritually relevant overall.
@swordschannel37096 жыл бұрын
@@dougcasey6117 well, the symbol itself did not kill millions or burn thousands of years worth of knowledge (crafted by a growing kingdom on the Yucatan peninsula). It was the people who weilded that symbol. Kind of how at the end of the day, a coin is a simple piece of metal. If seen by person though, it can become a symbol of power or nobility. With context all things change.
@dougcasey61176 жыл бұрын
swords channel That is a kind of simpleton form of logic there, I find that losses its context not at all acknowledging a factual reality. If it was a symbol devoid of any ideological dogma and grounding in very violent descriptions of mass murder and injunctions to carry those out. As the Bible clearly contains those ideas and demands condones and excuses and even praises those acts, has practically a to kill list of other humans for a variety of were to imagine righteous reasons. Course that is an old book that made the cross relevant and a common symbol with some cultural meaning, cannot break it away from that context no matter how Christians may today wish so they could. I state that with the barbaric scripture would be enough to condemn it all alone, but that isn't all we have is it?... No, we have the "We Are To Again Imagine" the uninspired by their scriptural dogma Christians, roaming over the face of the earth murdering doing genocide stealing raping butchering all under the cross in the name of their god while waving the Bible. Yes, it is just an innocent symbol, I'm sure it is all unrelated to a cross and the ideology it is so well connected to? Thank you but I think I'll still find offense at the bloody horrid damned "NOW" cursed symbol for all it has stood for and represents, been a better world had all of it never existed... May it all die out now! Allow me an adjoining thought here, you or anyone is free to believe what you will and I'm free to express my feelings on it. Unlike Christians, I would never force anyone under penalty of death to be like me or think as I do. I have a book that has positive depictions of thieving, praises theft and robbery. I like the book of thieving claim it as my moral guide and I wear the symbol from the book. I go out and commit theft along with many other book lovers all over the globe. As I do this I try to force others to read my book and accept it and my symbol even my victims. See my case, see how offensive? See how silly it is not to see the obvious?

Your Video has brought to the point of tears! I came here with my parents as a child of about 6 or 7 years old about 1958. In those days " WESTERN THEME" road side parks were VERY POPULAR. As a child then it was a Great Adventure when my parents would stop at these places and there were a number of them at that time in the New England area. Frontier Town, SIX GUN CITY, GAS LIGHT VILLAGE, STORY TOWN, SANTA'S VILLAGE. My parents took me to all of them. However, everything changes with time and places like Frontier Town lose their popularity. Your video tour was the first time since the late 50's that I last laid eye's in person on this place. How Very Sad it is to see what was once so popular and exciting, to be in such Ruin. That's life I guess. I love the videos with pictures or footage of when locations were operating. I've watched so many videos of Six Flags Houston, a theme park I grew up going to, and footage of demo day. It is now a large parking lot, kind of sad. What initially caused me to be interested in urban exploring were videos of Six Flags over New Orleans (Jazzland). I guess what makes these kinds of places so eerie is how they were once home to fond memories, but were somehow forgotten and abandoned. People enjoyed them, moved on but these places don't and what's worse is they become overgrown and fade out becoming obsolete. 😔 Great video, by the way.

You did a good job of fading in bygone sounds, like the piano music fading in and out. So incredibly sad to see this.

Very well done there Mobile instinct. I was there in my youth when it was still popular. I always wondered what happened to it. But couldn't find that many pages or videos about it until I stumbled on yours here. Yes even Canadians come down to take a look at this. I'm thinking of trying to find some abandoned places up here to do something similar like this as well. to keep like an archive on youtube about places like this. that we were all fond to remember back in the day.

Karl Entner Hey Karl glad you found me. It must be odd to see what it looks like now.

I would agree it is kind of odd to see it now from what it was from what you remember last time as a kid. LOL. I think when we were all kids in some point in time that we all hope places like this would never close down because it was a very fond memory in our childhood. And to come back to see something like this the way it is now. But you know how it is having a business like this some of them are only good memories. And some like Frontier town most likely couldn't keep up with the times due to x, y, and z reasons here. If I may ask this here and its for my curiosity sake here. Since I do running a channel on youtube with some odd little tech stuff, vlogs, and me playing pool and how badly I play at it. Maybe you can shed some light on this. How do you go about documenting places like this without getting into trouble of some sort. I would usually like to keep things on the up and upwhen doing shoots to something like this. I know when i go vlogging and start filming myself in the local pool hall. I usually check with the guys in the front in advance to make sure that its okay. And won't get kicked out for not asking in the first palce. I do realize some place won't let you record on the premises due to vertain reason. And I am usually cool about that. Rather be safe than sorry for not asking. But that is usually when they are open for business. But when it comes to something like this where its run down and the brush is heavy makes it a little bit more difficult to do it properly. Any thoughts or suggestions about this? Since I am north of the border here. The laws in Canada are slightly different than it is in the States.

Yeah stay away! Big bad ticks will kill you! Lol. I'm in these woods every day during the spring, summer, fall. Yeah you get ticks on you but I've never gotten lime disease. You just gotta check yourself every night and pull them off. Good to go. But id be happy if all you morons stay away... You get lime disease and your limbs will rot off! 😱😱

We visited Frontier Town in July 1961 while on our yearly camping vacation to Lake George. Me and my sister fondly remember all of the activities there, especially being drafted into the military to fight the Indians. Also remember the train robbery and the dunk pond. The rodeo was fun, but I recall it being very hot in the July sun. My sister still has her deputy badge, and a newspaper printed for her saying that she saved the day. We ate hotdogs on toasted rolls in the diner and drank Nestea! These are cherished memories of our long gone days with our family.
