This, in my opinion, is one of the most stylish houses featured in this series. It looks so cozy and calming. Beautiful, is the contrast between ancient and modern, rough and polished. It's like someone went back in time and carved out some space inside a medieval castle and inserted a modernist dwelling! That stone is so gorgeous I want to have it for dessert!

Why do modern western/American people find the way most of the people in the world live so awesome in a video about a hayloft conversion, but if they see it in real life without all the modern architecture or whatever, then it's primitive and these people only do this bec they are poor and need to be assimilated and taught how to live in a decaying city all alone?
@MR-xf8xg4 жыл бұрын
@@annonimus2247 context is everything. In communal living situations everyone contributes to the well being of everyone else. How do you spend your weekends? Home repair projects? Painting? Gardening? Cleaning the attic or basement? Do you pay any of the household bills or just suck up resources and spend your money on yourself? If you don't do the things I'm asking about, it's no wonder your parents want you out. If you don't now and then start doing whatever your household needs doing, how would your parents respond? Would they see you more as an asset to the building of equity in the home? Just saying.

@@MR-xf8xg I’m from Spain, and just to let you know that it’s pretty common in the countryside to live with all your family, grandparents, grandchilds...all together, and not because they are poor. Specially in such big “masia”. Family is very important for us.

Another glimpse into the life of people that respect old spaces and the talent to make them usable again. With a little vision, we can save our historic built environment. Even the common vernacular can be beautiful. And thanks, Kristen, for your work to bring the work of these people to all of us.

This is honestly the first tiny home I've seen that I would actually live in with minimal changes to it. The only thing I would do, would be to put a portable closet/dresser in the bedroom. I love that it still has an actual bathroom with plumbing (no composting toilet) and it looks so big and spacious even if it isn't. it's pretty.

We can always rethink & improve, & it's so refreshing! Besides just a good cleaning & "getting rid of," replacements, repairs, it gives new life to a space & I think it's healthy & relaxing, even if jarring to the nerves while taking place. Good for you!

I love this converted hay loft. I like this idea of the center box for everything and open space all around. I've seen it in several of these videos, but this is, I think, the best use of it. The "rooms" they've created are really versatile. Id live there.
@alindasue11 жыл бұрын
This is one of my favorites of the homes you have featured. I like both the concept of the multi-generational use of the property where everyone is "together but not mixed up", but also the way this couple used the hay building to create a very usable, practical home with actual stairs rather than ladders and a design that keeps in mind that they may need to create bedrooms for children as they get older.

This is wonderful, so many time you hear of family homes that have had more than one generation live in a home that is lost. By neglect or can't be kept up. But with each generation of this family having a part that is theirs it keeps it alive. This is very cool.

these videos inspired me to take a weekend and completely change the layout of my living space. I opened everything up and it works so much better now. The documentary you did "We Are The Tiny House People", was especially helpful. Before I watched it I put furniture against walls and didn't understand lines of sight in architecture. If you guys want some free visual design done in the way of tabs and navigation for your website don't hesitate to ask, it wouldn't change the layout or the theme.

I think the simplicity of the place is exactly what they were looking for and they hit it dead on. They had a great eye to see the possibilities with the oval double door and the stonework from the original structure and pulled it altogether. The only thing I would've added is a stair railing with nooks for shoe or other storage. Otherwise a great concept with more potential. Thanks for posting these videos so we can get ideas from them. Saludos.

I love it, and it suits them very well. I would personally change the "white" to warmer wood. Perhaps they could build a storage, box, Annex on the outside from the same wood, and give it doors shaped with the same "arch" to look in keeping. Create a wood or decorative forged iron bedroom hanging space and stair rail, balcony rail. Love the fire, so cosy in winter! With storage access outside, they have more room for a bedroom behind the kitchen. I could live there happily. Maybe they will start to cook more if babies come!!

I have a clip up on one of my channels here of a tiny house with 4 terraced gardens I just rented on the French Riviera from a Swiss couple. It's only for 2 but it's just incredible the quality & thought that was put into its design. It's in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin & if you type that and "Lisa Falour," my name, the clip ought to come up if you want to see it. They did live there full time & only left to rent it cuz the husband has health issues now. My best to you!

I'm in France & have been in "mezzanined," very stripped-down living spaces. I'm mobility challenged & never did like moving vacuum cleaners & stuff around for housework, & I remember one place which was really a bit confining, ultimately. It was, however, in a terrific village in Brittany -- despite the harsh weather there, people just dressed appropriately & got out a lot, even if they lived alone, were elderly, etc. That place I recall, I'd have gone nuts living in it, tho, I must say.
