Ugh! Feeling so sick seeing these beautiful pieces of history being demolished. Feeling personally attacked as I view the sequence of the demolition process. The craftsmanship of these homes could never be replicated in this era; mostly because of the mindset of todays “disposable mentality “, no pride in the craftsmanship, just build to make the buck! Thank you so much for documenting these beautiful pieces of art. Your dedication to preserving on video these homes is so very much appreciated. Thank you. Mindy

I love when you are able to include history along with the houses! what a shame these amazing homes are discarded so heartlessly with no regard for our history :( if I was rich I've always said id buy an old federation home and do it up. I hate that these artistic historic homes are replaced with boring featureless modern ugly houses. The houses these days are up in 2 weeks plain and ugly! I hate that about modern homes..no care..no artistic features..nothing! such a shame to see them go :(

I nearly cried seeing these beautiful old homes demolished. It's kind of a shame that the only one saved was the one in the worse condition and was never a fine house to begin with. I understand the history, I grew up in a house that was built in 1830, but it will likely be left to fall down until it will have to be condemned for safety's sake. Sadly the brick seems to already be crumbling. I was happy to see that they left the outdoor bathroom to the little cottage. My 1st thought on seeing it was "built like a brick sh-t house"! I do enjoy your explores and hearing history behind each one.

Just to add I absolutely LOVE the real estate pics before homes are vacated & nature/hooligans take over. Is there a reason homes sell to investors rather than genuine home owners? Thank you Paul for filming 📷three very old Norwood homes 🏡, with original characteristic features both internally and externally. Again such a sad waste that two of the old gems have been demolished for new developments. I absolutely love the history on the 165 year old cottage 🏚. The Federation home 🏘was so spacious and the Victorian residence 🏠had the most beautiful intricate facade and interiors. Norwood is one of the older and beautiful suburbs of Adelaide, known for many historic homes, including the early settlers cottage captured in this footage. The good old outside 'dunny' 🚽adds to the character and originality of the early settler cottage property.

Wow. The history of these places hit me a bit and brought a teat to my eyes. I don't know why. Just thinking of how old the places are, especially the 1850's one, the people, coming from England to live here. Once here, now gone. Kinda sad. And just Australia, or Adelaide particularly, in our early days. I wish I had a time machine to go back and see these places and even the people in those early years. I would love to own that sandstone cottage though. That extension in the living room?? was really good. Like it a lot. What an absolute shame that sandstone cottage was demolished. Glad that 1850's house is heritage listed! That second house that was demolished was a beauty as well. What a shame it's gone.

Thanks Michelle :-) Glad it was a bit emotional to you as the history does make us think a bit more of our past and what gets lost....Yes the extension in the larger cottage was really well done. Thanks heaps for watching :-)

@@urbexindigo5164 Hearing anything about our past is always so interesting. Thanks for getting to these places before they were gone and sharing with us. And no worries. I always enjoy your videos :)

It is a shame isn’t it when you see places like this going to waste and not being saved breaks your heart when you see is abandoned places there’s so many it’s unbelievable how much is out there and history to everything if we know it is beautiful to know and see and then nature takes over I know that there are some properties that abandon that some people can save and know that a few people bought a few abandoned properties which is amazing to see . But the history to some of these places are so cool and Some sad

Hi Tracey :-) Thanks for watching , you are right about how much history is out there and it can all be just lost or forgotten in a flash when we lose all these homes. Cheers :-)

Love when you add history, it is heart breaking to see such beautiful old homes that were cherished lost. It seems to me that the heritage laws are lacking. So wasteful to destroy such beautiful craftsmanship and a perfectly liveable house to build something that will never come to close to the character lost. probably also with a larger footprint so the kids lose out on backyard space.

Hi Deborah :-) yep the history really puts it all in to perspective, cheers for watching :-)

Thank you for such a lovely upload Ubex Indigo! I really enjoyed this one, especially your commentary on the history of these homes and solid record evidence from the local council 😊 Are there any heritage organisations there in Australia, and if so - how much support do they receive from residents in their local areas to protect heritage buildings/areas? Here in my hometown in the UK, a wonderful old mansion built in the 1750s did have a preservation order put on it, which meant that the developer that bought the house and land could not demolish it - so instead they divided the rooms into individual flats and sold them on per unit. It's lovely for me personally to walk past this old house each day on my way into work to see this lovely old house still lived in. Surely some of the homes in your videos could receive the same level of restoration and be sold on, or is there no market for this in Australia? Thanks again for the lovely upload 😊👍

Hi Sarah :-) So glad you enjoyed this one and the history. Yes we have a heritage register but not as many homes are on it as should be :-( Glad your UK protection is working, your history is far greater than ours but ours needs to be protected as there will be none otherwise. Cheers for watching :-)

@@urbexindigo5164 History and heritage in every country is important - irrespective of age. It gives citizens a sense of identity and belonging, whichever country they call home 😊 Whilst I am from London myself, the town I moved to after returning from working abroad is a very old market town (hence why I chose to move here!), our town centre - where I run my small business is over 600 years old, so heritage is a big deal for us. Our buildings are between 300-600 years old, and these have been restored over the years to accommodate modern apartments and businesses. Sadly, its not the same in all parts of the UK, as its down to the local residents in each given town to petition their local councils to preserve old buildings. Thankfully for us, our council recognises this, and residents here will organise protests if any of our buildings come under threat. Thanks again, and looking forward to your next upload 😊
