The old 1900s homes were absolutely stunning with the lace work, stained glass windows, gorgeous archways, returned verandas, beautiful fireplaces and beautiful ceiling roses. So much attention to detail and so much history! ❤❤
@dianetobin72202 жыл бұрын
I notice the veranda ceiling on the first house was painted pale blue. This was commonly done years ago in the southern U.S. The color is referred to here as "haint blue," a variation of the word "haunt." It was originally thought that haint blue would keep haints, or ghosts, away from the home. The pale blue looked like sky, tricking the ghost to pass through. Sometimes door and window frames would be painted haint blue to mimic the look of water, which ghosts could not cross! Many porch ceilings are still painted pale blue today across the U.S. simply because it looks like the sky and is pretty.

I asked my best friend Mr Google and he said that Amaro D'erve is Pergoté Amaro d'Erbe is artisanally crafted through a long infusion of botanicals and spices. A careful selection of gentian, bitter orange, mugwort, vanilla, iris and coriander is the core of this bittersweet liqueur. Intense, warm, with a soft bouquet. It is Italian.

The car takes over the world. Here them in the background . Perhaps the reason the family moved out. The exterior more impressive than the interior.Pity that it had a revamping. You are right about those who lived there being Italian. I lived in their wonderful country for some years. The clues: The record that you pointed out,the pickled onions Italian style and tellingly the other large jars, the layout of the extensive veggie gardens and the vines…. and the bottle of Amara … not cologne but a digestivo , an after meal drink. Lovely and pretty potent. Thanks for these great videos.

It is easy to see what the old place was even without the real estate pics. Such a loss to a country's culture to destroy representations of the past.The Future looks a lot more grim if the next generation forgets who they are. .People are a time limited resource, structure is a marker of history. All the best.

That first home was a little bit schizophrenic! It was just spectacular on the outside! I think that’s the prettiest fretwork I’ve ever seen on a home - it looked just like lace! And that beautiful veranda with the lovely tiled floor and curved edge roof. The sandstone with the beautiful white painted corners… And it looked like there were nice, semi-formal gardens on the side. I was in love! 😍 The inside was interesting, too, in its own way. Suddenly there was a lot of really interesting decor from 1930! The fireplaces! And those cabinets they put in everywhere!! Poor house seemed to be stuck in a permanent identity crisis! I never dd quite figure out the layout there with the back of the house and that very strange kitchen. And, oddly, the photos didn’t really clear it up for me. Such a shame, though, since it looked very sound structurally and it seemed like it could be restored to its original glory. So very sad! Thanks for showing us, Paul!

The 1900 Victorian Villa, 🏡with the wrought iron lace along the veranda (typical feature of that era), the original Lime stone facade, the spacious rooms with intricate high ceilings and cornices, along with the garden filled with fruit trees and once vegetable garden beds. Hi Paul just saw this video was hoping you would cover my late fathers home b4 its demolition . Unfortunately it was a regretful sale not my decision .My father purchased this home in 1971 .Yes that is the pink sink and tiles that were originally from the bathroom updated in the early 90s ,new kitchen in 78. The rest of the house was as is from b4 71 . The original fire places must have been changed in 30s agreed. I did find a date written in pencil 27 aug 1913 inside roof at the top of hallway wall . The original owner builder was from rural SA they kept horses in that corner shed as recounted by a lovely old lady who lived directly across the road who saw this house being built when she was child . It has a large cellar as well but covered over by the vinyl floor . 50 years of memories sadly gone . Thank you for the video truly appreciate your work covering Adelaide heritage homes . 🙏

The first house outside was beautiful, the veranda, the wrought iron work on the porch, but wasn't so crazy about the inside...definitely had a feel that the male of the household was the last to pass on...Our tails drooped when you stated the home was slated for demolition. Phew! So glad you mentioned about the mid-week video - our sniffers were working overtime trying to find it on Wednesday!! We began to doubt it was actually a Wednesday! it must be a common thing for people to keep "chooks" "in town".... that traffic noise - it seems like a lot of these older, beautiful villas are on very heavy traffic roads. I don’t think I’ve ever come across such an old house with such obvious vintage updates. Funny to think the homeowners thought the place looked outdated and needed some ‘New’ Art Deco flair? Considering the addition and kitchen update was in the 1930s, it’s very possible the stove was intended to be in a ‘summer kitchen’ type area. The huge window in that room suggest maximum airflow.

I loved the first one. I would kill to have all those cupboards, my house has very little storage and that drives me nuts. The cupboards were beautiful too. I’m not real familiar with the temperature there but I take it that heating isn’t as big of a deal as cooling is and that’s why they have such high ceilings with vents in them? Mine are not very high, just the standard height, but we have quite a long winter with below freezing temperatures for weeks or months and below 0 F for weeks too, especially when it was built in 1915.

Sad that this (first) one is being demolished as it doesn't have any major defects - just remove the horrible floor coverings, a new kitchen, a bit of paint and some sprucing up and it'd be really nice. I’m interested to know what rouse do you use if discovered by the owner or demo crew?..otherwise great old homes , pity they are resigned to the tip, some are stunning examples of our yesteryear architecture,great Vlog ❤️🦘🦘🦘

The first home was beautiful with the ceilings, stained glass and all of the original accents still in it. The other two were small but cute and the glass around the door on the last was very pretty. The locks on the outside of the doors makes me wonder if they were into human trafficking.
