I am always saddened by hoarders. I often wonder what has been missing in their lives that they thought 'things' could replace. At one time this house must have been beautiful based on the finishings left inside. The leaded glass, the front fireplace, the ceiling tiles, and some of the original woodwork was great. Thanks for the show.
@urbexindigo51644 жыл бұрын
Yes hoarders usually grew up with not a lot lladylobo and hang on for dear life to things to avoid that feeling I guess. Lots of old features to look at here in this old place, glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching :-)
@kgbeezr754 жыл бұрын
My best friend of two decades is a hoarder, haven't seen the inside of his place in years, I only wait outside if I pick him up. I used to joke with him that I was going to come in anyway, and I tried to peek inside, but I don't do it anymore because I realize it's a sensitive area. There's so much grief and misery in the world, but it so often hides behind smiles and cheery dispositions, and people compensate and cope in all sorts of ways...I probably fall in there somewhere myself too, but I don't hoard. There's the face we show the world, and the one we keep just for ourselves, more people probably hoard than one would think, and there are degrees like anything. Point though, I think it's some OCD, but it's also filling in for what isn't there..there's a term used in psychology but it escapes me. As UrbexIndigo said too, it's people who didn't grow up with much. That fits my friend, and as an adult he made a good career and life, he has the income to burn, and he just spends to have, and spends to avoid. If that makes sense. Sorry I rattle on, but it's all fascinating to me how different people deal with life.
@michelemcguire89954 жыл бұрын
Well many times it's because they've lost a child or husband to death n they just can't part with any of their things and so then they go shopping n find things that reminds yhrmnif that person or persons,buy it and do the hoard begins to grow and grow..that's what's sad..they can't seem to put it together in their minds that things won't bring them back but they feel so emotional about it that they feel if they throw away their things they feel as though they would be throwing them away as well..

Hi Debbie, the huge double rectangle gables at the front basically define these 20`s homes as bungalows here in Australia, also the thick pillars holding the veranda and gable up. he interiors of this one are late federation and arts and crafts which also blends in to Bungalows era. this one is basically a trasition from federation in to Bungalow. Cheers for watching Debbie :-)

That house is really in great shape! The stained glass windows and fireplace are absolutely stunning! Love the colors in the windows and all the architectural details in this bungalow. I can only imagine what it looked like before it was cleared out. I've seen places around where I live that are currently occupied by hoarders. It's a strange disease, for sure, with no known cure. I hope this beautiful home finds a family, I would hate to see it torn down for ticky tacky new condos, but that seems to be the path our future homes are taking lately. Thanks so much for another great tour! Loved it!

Wonderful house. I would love to see it back in its original condition. Odd to put up walls in a larger room to make a, basically unusable tiny room. Unless they were using the small rooms as nurseries. Hoarding often is the result of a loved ones death. Spouse, parent, child. There is a lot there that isn't junk. Vintage and antique furniture and accessories. A saw some wonderful bed frames. Really nice garden furniture. A great old birdcage. And what looked like a very nice rug rolled up In the garage. Antique tables. A lot of terrific things. Thank you for letting me tag along, I enjoyed myself.

My friend Oddie has a video of 2 brothers that lived in New York like that, the Culluar (not spelled right) brothers or some name. This one brother couldn't walk any more or something and his brother slipped out of their New York apt building to get food/water. They had TONS of junk, great stuff mixed with outright trash, newspapers pilled, you name it ...they had it. The guy had the apt booby trapped & somehow I guess the brother messed up and ALOT of stuff fell on top of him. We'll never know if he'd cried out for help but the brother left in a bathrobe on a chair couldn't help & he slowly died for lack of food/water. It was nearly impossible to get into the house & tons of 'STUFF' had to be gotten out of the place, even a car was found in there, in pieces. Sad sickness.

The SA power networks like to get rid of those old disc meters and replace with digital smart meters, I've had them wanting to upgrade mine and I refused and the other thing stopping them is the car port roof just under the fuse on the gable, I don't run hot water so I siphon the J tariff for most of my plug in appliances, an extension cord wired into the hot water tank, the timer was jammed when I got the house, the hot water power was 24/7

Love that fireplace and old doors. Shame you could not go through some of the abandoned stuff and take and use what you like. I see some nice old table's there that look to be in decent shape? I don't know what the law's are in Australia on taking dumped items off abandoned properties? If it's not against the law, then it's silly not to take something you can use. If it is against the law, well thats a different story.

There would have been some treasure in there junk too id say Sandy but im not one for rumaging haha. Someone must still own this property but your right, those things were probably old tenants and are now considered abandoned. Cheers again :-)

I am in love with the stained glass and that fireplace. Someone had a hard time letting go of stuff. When I find myself waffling about getting rid of stuff I don't use any more, I go watch a episode of hoarders. Could be a beautiful home for someone again. Have fun and stay safe.

I would say the stuff in the front of the house is the contents that have been removed from the house, maybe an eviction and they didn’t come back for them. The back yard with the building materials and older furniture could well be the owner of the house using the yard for storage of his stuff he has collected over the years.

Finger's crossed, maybe the junk is outside & ready to be carted away & hopefully the home can be fixed up & lived in again. A shame a family's history is all about. My 'X' family did the same to me, changing family 'wills' taking what they wanted & the rest (mostly my stuff) was lost. One just deals with it and goes on. I found a nice guy in my building named Mark we might start going out. He was a drummer for a famous band back a few years, so we have music in common & has a great sence of humor, not a bad start eh? 😎 I want to start up a new band at church ...Now where could I find a great drummer...himmmm🤔 Mark has also done raidio work and is just fun to be around. My apt looks like that yard, pulled everything out after being here 7 yrs, alot will get tossed. (given to a thrift store) Won't have to worry about 'spring cleaning', ha, ha. Nice filming once again.🖒👻 Has anyone seen 'piano man' lerking about? I think he was living in the closed off rooms.😃😂😁If you hear piano music start playing...run for your life Paul!!😘

@@urbexindigo5164 Piano dude, ha,ha. Yup, I never thought I'd be 'dateing' again. Never say never I guess. Maybe they put the junk out so it can be thrown out/picked up easyer & like we've said maybe it will be saved. Jay from JPVideos just showed us two beautiful old well built farm houses that are be distoryed for what else, a Strip Mall. 😢😭 In the basement of one of them was a huge fireplace. It also had huge cave crickets on & in it. I would have luved to metal detected there. I just found an almost 5 caret Shappire/ diamond ring, cleaned up like brand new almost that was under the water in the sand along the Cheasapeak no less. One day I'll do a video on at least the rings & some other goodies found by metal detecting.

Ah, so basically it was a duplex at some point in it's life. I lived in a couple duplexes myself in the past. Laurel, Delaware, USA particularly has quite alot in such small town. That includes alot of large houses. Seems the interior has been in good condition for quite awhile. I think if the outside was cleared up and fixed, I think it can still be livable. Just add a few touch-ups here and there and viola! You got yourself a move-in ready home. Which I hope does happen at some point.

Agreed. But make it one big house again like it used to be.

Here in the USA landlords can toss things out as part of an eviction. Storage is an issue. Sometimes if something needs to be done with the interior all the stuff goes out. If you don't care, It's just piles. Too bad the house was split. Wonder if the owner just gave up on the project. Another issue is how things get tied up in banks and courts, so it's not worth the effort. It seems to be structurally ok. I love the older homes there. Stained glass, high ceilings, fireplaces, etc.
@urbexindigo51644 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy, yes this place is definitely in a state of limbo, it seems the owner has not tendet to anything for a long time other than ditching all the stuff out years ago, may have given up or intending to sell. Cheers for watching :-)

I think the real problem comes in when someone takes all the belongings from inside and just throws it all in piles and leaves it. I don't believe the person living there did that...more likely the owner of the building or hired help. Either way, a give away would have gotten plenty of that yard emptied fast enough. There's plenty there that people would have taken to use or for salvage. In my opinion, it says a lot about the person who chose to have it all thrown in the yard and left. I love the house! I love older homes! :)
