Absolutely gorgeous car, I'm so envious at this find. Muscle cars are all well and good, but I'm a land yacht guy all the way. Low and slow baby! I'd give this beast a clean-up, fix the brakes, drop in a working period stereo (gotta have the tunes in one of these!) and daily her just as she is.

I moved away from home back in my early 20's for a job at the other end of my state. Because of that, I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my parents. Now, they've both passed on, and I miss them every day. Seeing how much fun you have working on these projects with your Dad makes me envy your relationship with him. Never forget how lucky you are to have these times, my friend.

The transmission will have a vacuum modulator on the passenger side rear corner of the case. When those goes bad they can suck transmission fluid into the intake manifold thru a vacuum hose. Once you get it full, if it continues to loose fluid and there isn't any leaks then I would replace that.

Sorryu for all the comments...But yes, only run 91 or higher on the pre 72 460...they will knock big time when times at 8BTDC (like the tag on the valve cover says) with new gas with ethanol. I found over the years that 12 BTDC and running on 91 will do the trick without loss of power (I have both a hi compression 460 and a low compression one and both needed this advance and both only run 91 octane)
@RipRoaringGarage3 жыл бұрын
You are right about the idle supposed to be at 850 BUT, because of the gas 650 is best...I am going to do a video on a revival of one of my cars as well as what I do for tune up and carb setup...I wish I was there, because I can bang it out in about 10 minutes. (I was known across the country for this andhad cars come in my ddriveway from Florida and as far as Arizona just for a tune up..and everyone would get the same power and 20mpg or so on their drive back)

Also, make sure you dont run her without the fanshroud...They will overheat without them. Its that fine a balance (especially with cars that had the sound deadening in the hood...not all had them though). Also, guard that shroud because they are the MOST expensive Lincoln part. Ten years ago they were going for 500 to 1000 bucks. Not sure what a good one could run today, since theyre near impossible to find in good shape.

I posted on your last video some things I noticed that need work on your car. Nothing serious but some issues that 460/C6 drivetrains (plus some electrical stuff) I will add that there are some issues I would resolve with the valvetrain particular to the engine angle (lifters 4 and 8 tend to gunk up and fail, which can lead to a worn camshaft if ran too long with the bad lifters)
