It is so amazing to me to see how that log cabin was built in the 1800s with those square nails and pegs. There should be some treasures found around there. Even metal detect all over your grounds. Love your channel! From Southeast Alabama 🎄

Thank you so much! It really is incredible to see the craftsmanship from the 1800s-those square nails and wooden pegs are like stepping back in time. I’ve definitely been tempted to grab a metal detector and see what treasures might be hiding out there! So glad you’re enjoying the channel, and greetings to you down in Southeast Alabama!

the large amount of chinking you see is the fact that the logs start out fresh cut green logs and as they started to dry and get smaller more chinking was needed in the winter time to close the drafts and the drafts was needed in the summer time to help with temps.

I remember hearing about a timber frame school somewhere along the east coast. I think students work for free. No this isn’t timber framing but perhaps there’s a building school that will offer free help. Only to assemble as those logs are heavy to lift on your own when the time comes. Or you could ask KZbin viewers. There may be a few folk out there willing to donate a weekend or two to help rebuild the historic cabin. Have you thought about reaching out to a historical society? See how they persevere old cabins like this?

Hi ! Ive seen a couple videos a month or so ago. I did did enjoy them. Tonight this is my third ! Ive also subscribed 😊 Im listening to you ( don't don't know name name ) worrying about Russ & it brings me back to when i 1st met my husband. He did construction & a lot of roofing. Id be nervous watching him up on roofs walking around like he was on the ground ! Didn't take long for me to stop getting nervous after listening to some things he did or happened.
@thezaytsevs9 күн бұрын
Hi there! 😊 Thank you so much for subscribing and for spending your evening with us-it really means a lot! I can totally relate to how you felt watching your husband work; it sounds like he was fearless on those rooftops! It’s nerve-wracking at first, but eventually, you get used to their confidence (even if you’re still holding your breath sometimes). I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos, and I hope we can keep bringing you more moments to enjoy. Thanks again for the support! 🙌

Where's your brother Roman? Thought he was coming to help you. You are a hardworking man, Russ! Be safe out there dismantling the cabin. As a side note...have you and Valentina thought about doing Merch for your channel? That would be another avenue to generate income for your renovation. Your wife could put together a Ukrainian cookbook. Be creative. Other channels have some amazing ideas for Merch. Just a thought. Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🎄☃️❄️

As for merch, that’s a great suggestion! Valentina and I have tossed around a few ideas, and a Ukrainian cookbook sounds like something she’d absolutely love to do. It’s definitely something to think about for the future. We appreciate your support and creativity-it means a lot! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas as well! Stay warm and safe. 🎄

A very big hello Russ, from Reg and Sally from Western Australia, Australia. We love you and your family so much, your wife is so pretty she should be a model. You have a beautiful family and should be so proud, which we can tell you are. The other day you mentioned you are having Christmas in New York city, not sure if you know Russ about New York city, but it is very dangerous there due to the illegal people from across the border. They have made the streets and subways very dangerous across New York. People are being stabbed and robbed left, right and centre. Even taking clothes and shoes. Russ are we able to donate to you for people affected by the hurricane? We know you mentioned PayPal but we have heard it takes 60% of the money. Do you have another pay stream called buy me a coffee which doesn't seem to take as much. We used to donate to a private media outlet using buy me a coffee and it seems to take less money. He was in America as well. We do support another private media outlet in America he told his viewers that PayPal takes 60% of the money. We know America has other payment outlets but unfortunately we only have 2 outlets to pay money to, PayPal or buy me a coffee in Australia. Russ, can you please look for another location for Christmas as New York is not safe. They seem to target tourists once they know that you are a tourist and they will rob you. Absolutely love your channel and everything you put on there. We haven't heard you mention what you do for a living as we are curious to know, are you able to mention it? Your property is beautiful. A property like yours in Australia would be worth over $5m. You both come across as beautiful people, which we love. We to, have a property, 48 acres, unfortunately mostly bushland. If you and your family ever wish to come to Western Australia I am fairly certain we could provide you with accommodation as you seem beautiful, caring people. We love watching you and your wife as you are both funny. Love and best wishes Reg and Sally. Please be very careful in New York. ❤
@thezaytsevs19 күн бұрын
Hi Reg and Sally! A very big hello right back to you from our family! Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words; they mean the world to us. You’ve put such big smiles on our faces! I’ll be sure to tell my wife about the model comment-though I think I’ve already mentioned it once or twice myself 😉. I really appreciate your concern about New York City. It’s definitely a place where you have to stay alert, but we’re going to be careful and stick to well-lit, busy areas. And don’t worry-we’ll keep our heads on a swivel! As for donations, first off, thank you for your generosity and heart for helping others. I wasn’t aware of the issues with PayPal fees being that high! I’ll definitely look into Buy Me a Coffee or other options to make it easier for supporters like you. I truly appreciate you bringing this up. Wow, 48 acres! That sounds incredible, even if it’s mostly bushland. I can imagine the peace and beauty of your property. If we ever get the chance to visit Western Australia, we might just take you up on that offer-it sounds amazing! Oh, and as for what I do: Our primary income comes from our family business, where we provide staffing for electricians. Our property is like our second job-though it doesn’t bring in any money just yet, we’re hopeful it will one day. In the meantime, sharing our journey and connecting with wonderful people like you makes it all so rewarding. Thank you again for all your support and kind words. Sending lots of love and blessings from our family to yours. Stay safe and enjoy that gorgeous Australian landscape! Warmest regards, Russ 😊

@thezaytsevs Thanks Russ for your very kind words. Your lovely family would be more than welcome to stay with us. We are going to down size our property so will be moving to a smaller property size, we have lived here for 30 years. We are in our early 60's, retirement time 😁. Please do let us know about Buy me a coffee. Unfortunately the only 2 that we can donate to are PayPal and Buy me a coffee. Thank you for letting us know about your work. And seriously you need to get some help with those massive beams, you really don't want to be like me. My back is totally stuffed. We have both worked for Alcoa, I had to retire due to my back. Sally still works for them. We can understand why your wife can't help you with work like that, way too heavy for her. Take care. All the very best wishes for Christmas 🎄 and the New year. We look forward to seeing any new videos. We hope Santa Klaus brings you something very special as you are such a big hearted person. Love from Reg and Sally

Thank you so much for your thoughtful message and kind offer-it truly means a lot to us! Downsizing after 30 years on your property must feel bittersweet, but I’m sure exciting new adventures await you in retirement. Early 60s is a great time to embrace it, and I hope you both enjoy every moment. 😊 I’ll definitely look into Buy Me a Coffee-it seems like a practical option, and I really appreciate you bringing it up. You’re absolutely right about those beams! They’ve been giving my back a serious workout, and hearing about your experience is a good reminder to take it easy (or maybe invest in a crane!). Sally must be incredibly strong to still be working with Alcoa-what an impressive career you both have had. Thank you for the warm Christmas and New Year wishes! Wishing you health, happiness, and plenty of joy in this new chapter ahead. 🎄✨

You’re absolutely right-this whole channel is just a secret audition for a soap opera. Trust me, if I could fake lifting those heavy logs, my back would be thanking me right now. 😂 While we’re still working on the cabin-maybe not exactly the way you’d like-life has thrown us some unexpected turns, and we’ve chosen to share those moments too. I don’t have to post videos every week, but I choose to so everyone can follow the real journey, not just the highlights. And well... this is it.
