From what it looks like and the pile of bits of furniture outside and in the basement, he would pick n choose parts of old furniture and repurpose them onto other furniture. Very interesting home he created.

I cannot imagine turning my back on a place my Parents worked so hard to create, and filled with so much love and generosity of spirit. I would totally buy this place, if it was in a better shape and I had the cash. I love Portugal and I think this house just oozes out love and compassion from it's walls. The creative energy in and around it, is just so inspiring and beautiful. So very sad it's wasting away, unloved. 💙😧💛

This gentleman was amazing. And his wife. I adore how eccentric he was and that he used salvage to build things. Wonderful. My father restored a mid 1850s home in Georgia in USA. He got a staircase, f8replace mantels, etc. He was amazing. I really enjoyed you and Danny sharing this. Oh how I wish his children and grandchildren would keep it and hand it down. This is amazing.

Its admirable. He didnt pay others to do it. Genuine artist & not a bunch a materialistic things left behind he left imagination & true creativity I bet he was an amazing husband & father with such passion & heart he shows in his work. THANK YALL for taking us to allll these amazin places we would never get to see or know exists without yall. Ive lived in 17 states & 2countries myself & these places are EVERYWHERE. So sad too Lesley said it once & i agree soooo much wasted money literally & just sad because it could alll be used to feed the world & save the animals & SO much more. God bless yall. Stay safe & hope yall never stop livin your dreams & travels & sharin it all with US.

🌸Hi Leslie & Danny, I believe Mr Antonio had a job that gave him Access to a Lot of abandoned unwanted Furniture. So he would bring it home and use it as his Scupting Materials. SO Cool !!! He was The Original “Up-Scaler” 😃 I wonder where his children went (?) that they would abandon it😭

Those chairs have nothing to do with being sick those are Adirondack chairs that is just simply the style of them
@tamarrajames35902 жыл бұрын
They are similar to Adirondack chairs, but these were what they put outside European tuberculosis sanitariums. They wanted patients with TB to breathe clean country air, and they were weak from the illness, so the chairs had a cushion on the back and seat. They were wrapped in blankets in cool weather, and were served tea on the broad arms of the chairs.🖤🇨🇦

I understand that children encountered difficulties to sell this castle ! A masterpiece like this is priceless ! For them, it will never be enough expensive, given the work made by their parents... And for the buyers, it will always be too expensive, given the renovations to be done, here ! Too bad to think that it will, therefore, fall into ruines !

What a labour of love! The kids probably couldn't sell it because their father may not have had either the proper training in the building industry or the permits to build. A crooked house can be a big problem. They could have kept it up and opened it to the public for a small cost! Thanks Lesley xx

Neuschwanstein has to be one of the favorites of anyone who loves castles. I know it is my favorite!! This place reminds me of a friend who built his own "castle" from the ground up. It was always a work in progress, just like this one. We would help him and his family build parts of it over the years. It didn't turn out badly, but it was obviously no cookie cutter home! I give the gentleman and his wife a lot of respect in their endeavor to create their dream. Not many of us are able to do so!

I want it. 💜 He was a real classic Portuguese man, because he had a significant wine cellar. My grandfather lived in a tiny village in Viseu district, and he had a 2-story house with a wine cellar and his own made wine. My grandfather was a carpenter, and he built his own house out of layered stones and wood. It's still with our family.

Best exploration channel! It brings me back to when I was a kid exploring old abandoned houses. I found one that was fully furnished and filled with thousands of letters from correspondence from world war 2. It was burned down about 12 years ago now. If the bros had been there it wouldn't have been lost.
@alexandria8255 Жыл бұрын
It's a lovely, quirky castle/home. The 2 chairs in the attic are what we call here in USA Adirondack chairs. Very popular. The Adirondack chair is an outdoor lounge chair with wide armrests, a tall slatted back, and a seat that is higher in the front than the back. Its name references the Adirondack Mountains. The chair was invented by Thomas Lee between 1900 and 1903 in Westport, New York, but was patented by his friend Harry C. Bunnell, who added some minor adaptations to make it more suitable for convalescents. The chairs were popularized in nearby tuberculosis sanatoria, where they were favored for the way the armrests helped open up the sitter's chest. The Lee-Bunnell chair, however, had a single plank for the chair back, and it was not until 1938 that the fan-shaped back with slats was patented by Irving Wolpin. Wikipedia

Hi Lesley & Danny, this was truly a Unique but Great looking Self-Made Castle!! I loved Antonia`s different taste of his Art in Every Room, with walls, painting walls, his woodwork & his Beautiful wood cabinets & Beautiful Bedrooms! It is a shame that the town can`t reach out to the Siblings & find if they want anything left in the Castle! Some things are worth a lot of money, other things are not! See siblings are older now & maybe could at least sell things that are left & maybe try again to sell it! Thanks Danny for your words of what is Portugal & Italy & Lesley of what is maybe German in this Castle! This was a Great Video, thanks for showing us this! Love from Central Illinois America 🥰❤
