Those men that worked on CCC projects were artists in their own way. Up here in Oregon they built winter shelters for loggers, hunters and hikers. Those that haven't burned are still standing. They even made lookout towers and the ranger stations. Up here women were involved to. They were cooks and did laundry, and first aid. Thank you for sharing

Thank ya'll for another great video. Thanks Leo for going up the mountain to show us this stuff. Like you were saying, imagine how hard it was back then. I know it was hard work and dont belittle what tgey did at all. But to those folks daylight to dark cutting stone, hauling stone and crafting where it was to go, all that was just a normal day. The craftsmanship, what we think of as amazing, was just the senior mason. If a person could not work like that and have quality work, they didnt have a job. Any of the trades were masters of their crafts, mason, carpenter, tree cutter or feller, but probably just considered themselves as a good worker. A lot different work ethic then than now . All that work, daylight to dark, they probably were making .15 to .25 cents a day. Look at the log cabins, fell a tree, hand hew to near perfect tolerences, but thats a different story. The world got soft and lazy. What a shame. Thanks guys and God bless. Ya'll stay safe on your travels out there.

That's a beautiful place and I love that you tell the history of it. The parks system should keep it cleaned up and let people see it in all its beauty I remember my mom and grandma talking about the ccc camps and that one of mom's cousins in the mountai ns of nc went to work on them. Mom said when he did they had absolutely nothing and by the time I was born and old enough to remember they had a beautiful house on a mountain off 181 near grandfather mountain and later after their kids werre grown they built another big beautiful home right on the main road. I always loved visiting them. Thank you for all the beautiful memories places and history you share. God bless you and Heather

Awesome, when I was a child, my family used to come to this park. It’s sad that it’s gone to the overgrowth. It used be an awesome area to picnic. There was a huge pool area too. We used to go swimming there. Hopefully the pool is still there and in use.. ❤👍🏼👍🏼

The CCC was active in Indiana during the Depression also. Lincoln State Park near Lincoln City, where Abe lived while in Indiana still has a lot CCC shelter houses & bridges in place.
I grew up in pueblo county colorado. The zoo and city park, the rye mountain park and buehla mountain park were built by the same program.

I was always told all those square ruins you’re coming up on (around the rubbed cedar) were also cabins. I was told they were close to a hundred cabins built in cabwaylingo, and I was also told the round pits with the chimneys were smoke houses.

Interesting to see this work, thanks. My maternal grandfather worked with the CCC he was born in Lee co. Ky. He got a job delivering mail on horseback in the mountains near home after his term in the CCC. They all had to be unmarried and 17 to 25,there are archives online. They made $30 a month and had to send $25 of that home. Actually a lot of them kept their families alive, because big families were still very common back then sometimes 10 or more kids still back home. Hope your knees aren't killing you too bad, mine creak and ache something awful, osteoarthritis is the name they give it. Just worn out is what they are. Take care.😊

From your video I see classic examples of four different Mediterranean stone masonry culture, you see many of the similarities if you visit the Mediterranean countries and look at the classical Stone buildings n homes. Melatonin Greek, your standard classical Athenian Greek style, and your classical Sicilian rural home styles and your Northern Italy style of stone masonry that was practiced out in the ruler areas of the country, stone masonry of the highest tradition from the old country probably many Italians and Greek Mediterranean immigrants were on that CCC camp masonry construction crews. In all honesty all of those stones building should be declared national historical treasures and preserved for future generations to study and enjoy,

Great job pointing out things. A pentagram with the point up top is a sign of protection, positive and in the light. With point down bottom is not and is used in dark belief systems.
