In this episode we use the Kenworth cabover to pick up an international 4070 Transtar. We go on a cab ride and listen to the 8v71 Detroit Diesel on the road to where we pick up from. An excavator and front end loader are used to lift on the truck that we intend on using for parts. This is part one of a two part series. Come along and enjoy

Always good watching these ride-alongs. I remember doing this as a kid in the 60s. Sitting alongside dad in what were old trucks even then. Mucking around with dozers and stuff. Ended up around machines all my working life. Love it, mate. 👍

Yes mate that’s great and that’s how I did also. Going with dad in trucks and equipment. I’ve been with a quarry company now for near 23 years, since I left school. Driven dump trucks and 631 scrapers, semis, floats and dog trailers but mainly in the workshop. Pulling a d9t apart as I’m replying to you actually

It is mate but it was harder this time because there was a loose fitting on the power steering that pumped all the oil out and I didn’t realise so it was full manual and heavy. Yes it is noisy but blokes put up with it. That’s new mufflers on it aswell and still noisy

Hi mate. It’s actually power assisted but it had a loose fitting on the steering cylinder and was pumping the oil straight onto the ground and I didn’t realise till I went to steer it out the gate. It must of been empty at this stage. I fixed it after loading. It’s never light but it’s certainly easier than just manual steering

Sorry for butting in here but the 9 series 10 and 15 sp the RTO 910 and 915s had the exact same set of gear ratios and were all evenly spaced, no gaps at 26% which is perfect for a Detroit keeping the RPMs up meaning each gear has a 400 RPM drop when changing. You can tell it's an overdrive box when he changes from 3rd to 4th the round the corner shift on the same gate.
