This is my second video watched, done by you Urbex... and I have been really enjoying looking at the architecture of these houses. They are, in so many ways, like those in the U.S.... yet the subtle differences I find charming.. or at least interesting.... :) The cook stove, recess'd into the kitchen wall was a mirror image of my kitchen range set up when I lived in the UK.... the light and power outlets look's so much alike as well. The thin doors, wooden walls, and no insulation in the (collapsing) ceiling speaks of a very mild climate- but this is around Ballarat, No ?... I know you've very mild winters..... there appears to be no heat sources except the fire place and kitchen range.... :) Was that a cistern tank outside, and the water tower? no wells- only rainwater collection ?... I was wondering about the water source, for with electric power I would have figured on a well....... All those toys speaks to me of a girl who out grew them- they were left behind and stored- and forgotten.There is nothing like children's toys, especially if this was the home of her grandparents- to be put away in some closet, out grown and with the passage of the years- become "worthless"- thought they were once treasures ...Sad.... I had to chuckle when you suddenly paused after hearing a car-- I had been exploring an old Victorian, and just like you, heard a car pull up. My heart shot into my throat when I looked out a window and saw it was a deputy sheriff ! The house had a 'For Sale' sign, and the doors were unlocked- so I, curious, had gone in in. But now I was caught red-handed; a trespasser ! oh Geeeeez, what was I going to do ?! I thought my best act was to brass-it-out..... so I went to the front door and opened it to the deputy who was now on the front porch. He was startled to find someone in the house, and immediately began to apologize for disturbing me- He said he'd seen the 'for sale' sign too, and since this had once been a locally famous bordello in the early 20th century, he had to take a look around it, like me. When I explained I was doing the same thing, we agreed to explore the house together. When we parted he remarked with a laugh- "This is going to be a great story to tell my wife- how I spent a half our in a whorehouse today with a young lady." ................................ :)
@urbexindigo51646 жыл бұрын
WOW! I love that story! What a fantastic explore that would have been with the Sheriff! That is so cool! :-) Haha yes I certainly have decided that owning up and just explaining my interest in this situation is the best and honest way to deal with being caught. I know the risk and will wear the wrap. :-0 Yep this house is out in the country close to Ballarat and the climate is very moderate and quite cold in winter. You really know your stuff with houses and I guess our English heritage has a lot to do with the likeness to their building styles. Not too sure if there was a well but these secluded country houses a lot of the time indeed do have a well. I like looking at the power outlets too as they are a cool age indicator too. Hey thanks for watching and feel free to leave some more comments questions on my other videos! :-)

Urbex Indigo Be careful walking. After exploring a home (I had no cammra) I was walking in a yard & not looking down but something, a feeling said to stop, then I looked down & their was a hole with just a board over it which at one time was a well. The name was just a foundation with leaves filling it & the trees were fantastic, must have been 2 or 3 hundred yrs old. I hugged them. I came back about a week latter they were all gone & I cryed. The foundation & everything was covered over. It was a really nice farm type house. I could spread my arms wide & not make the trunks even half way round.

What sort of trees are those outside the toy room at 5:44? Some of the limbs had been cut but their flat, fan shape is odd for me. The far right tree almost looked like a carved owl man. I know Australia has different plants and animals from the U.S, and most other places, so these videos are interesting on so many levels.
@urbexindigo51646 жыл бұрын
Hi quiet gecko firstly thanks for watching and commenting, secondly the trees you are are asking about are Cypress Trees. There grow quite large so they would have been cut back at some point and had the stumps painted to stop it growing towards the walls of the home. These Cypress trees are often planted in long rows along the sides of roads in Australia. They create shelter from wind around homes also. Thanks for your interest in the videos. :-)

Yep so true! And I have a feeling that this house is now being used as a make shift storage shed by a farmer as it would lie on his property. A lot of these old country houses are on farmers land and they rent them out but when the tenants pack up and leave for what ever reason the farmers just let them rot if they have structural damage.

Yes, my Step-Grandfather had 160 Acres here in the US, his mom had a house on the property, when she passed he never bothered with the house and let it fall to ruins, now since him and his wife have passed the property was sold and split up into portions. I think that if my Step-Dad was smart, he'd have built other properties on that 160 areas and rented them out.
