English captions would be greatly appreciated (the video's title IS in English.) Would like to know if the abandoned platform was part of a working station (it appears very short) or something installed to serve workers digging the bipass tunnel(s). Also, what lies beyond the end-of-rail in both directions? The drone shots were great, they gave an excellent overview of the terrain/relocation involved. Overall, very nice.

I used to live near this station till 1993. My understanding is that the station used to be in service for local residents until 1983. The platform was very short like you mentioned, but indeed as many as 9-carriages train (maybe a bit more, 12?) made a brief stop here till 1983. I remember, as a small kid, I got scared when the door opened and there was no plat form! Most passengers just jumped off the trains, although they utilized the short platform as they boarded. As a primary school kids, we often went there after school, doing seek and hide, etc. Lots of great memories!

When shortcut route was completed in 1983, this station finished passengers service, although the track has continued on being used for local line services until today. They built a new station “Midoriko Station” along the newly opened shortcut route in summer 1983, and this “Higashi Shiojiri” station came to the end of service in OCT 1983.

あなたや他の人が行う都市探検のタイプに適切な名前はありますか?☺ A hikyō station (秘境駅 hikyō eki), or "secluded station," is the Japanese language name for railway stations that are little used and isolated. Photographers and rail fans visit the stations to take photos of historical stations and trains or photos of nature. Is there a proper name for the type of urban exploration you and others do? ☺

Higashi-Shojiri Station in this video is an abandoned railway station, so I think it is appropriate to call it "hai eki (廃駅)" in Japanese. Exploring abandoned railway is called "haisen tansaku (廃線探索)".
