Interesting to see the construction still being very similar to the old bbc Veritron drives. Just without that crusty (but apparently pretty advanced) discrete pid board on top 😂

And if it wasnt for the massive forced air cooling, those busbars needed to be larger :)

You can run these in a DC power pupply mode if that is more useful.

If there were a catastrophic internal breakdown - I'm not sure the case would be strong enough to contain it?

Not even remotely. This would burn right through the 2 mm steel plate :)

So this does not do any PFC? Isn't that an issue in these power range?
@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk Жыл бұрын
It is an issue. But the size of the filters, tuned harmonic filters, is too great to fit in the drive. It is external and here is a short article on it powerquality.blog/2022/03/15/power-factor-correction-and-harmonic-control-for-dc-drive-loads/

@@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk That shunt reactor is forcing the highest frequency noise starting at the 5th harmonic to enter the power grid. Thought they would've used series L and shunt C, with the output-to-plant from the C. Resonances can be damped with an additional series RC connected across the shunt C. More costly, but more satisfying.

It can run a fan. But please do not try to overclock your CPU!
