I wish my parents were still alive to see this!!! They were both such huge Abba fans and I grew up listening to their music. I have a huge connection between Abba and my folks; I automatically think of them whenever I hear an Abba song and brings back such great memories of my childhood! I wish them all the best!!

I think it's joyous to hear their songs even to this day. I put on their music and it ups the rooms energy 100%. We had a group of people who would gather for karaoke. Most would choose melancholy or classic melodies, like Streisand, but the minute I or one of the others chose an AbbA song, all the rest chimed in with singing and dancing and the energy soared!

@@Mr_Kenneth What's wrong with a turntable and vinyl? I mean there's nothing wrong with retro right? Like I still have my dvd/vcr combo and I love it! And there are alot of people out there who just like older/newer things, older looking retro phones with new technology, and if they don't have a turntable they go out and buy a retro/vintage looking radio with the am/fm radio, turntable, cd player and mp-3..something that is yes made to look old but is actually new... And alot of people that I hear out there they say that the cds while they are a newer technology...they sound to clean sounding do you know what I mean? I mean I grew up in the 1970's when all they had was vinyl, and I'll tell you that I agree with the previous person who contradicted you also by saying as long as the vinyl is clean...well to me there was just nothing like the soothing little pops and crackles that vinyl made...now that doesn't mean there was anything wrong with it,it's t just the sound that vinyl made.. But with the technology of cds and mp-3 players,etc...well you lose all of that. You just have some people who like older things retro things..and things nowadays are just to new and technological....and there's nothing wrong with that but I personally just get tired of it..and there's nothing wrong with that.

@@IDontWantThisStupidHandle Because I love ABBA so much, I’ve been reluctant to say anything. I don’t doubt this could be an entertaining night, but I wonder what kind of precedent is set in replacing humans with animation. While I understand their reticence about touring at their age, at the same time I would have preferred to see them truly live. I wonder what the messaging is essentially saying no one wants to see older people in concert. In fact, I like the messaging better that it doesn’t matter what age you are, you are still worth being on a stage because of your talent, nothing to do with age.

@@Hgood1 I agree completely. Plus, after they are gone, who's to say what will become of these "characters?" Someone could write a "new ABBA song" splicing their vocals with pitch correct, etc and create new dance moves for these characters. They have officially become the product themselves (instead of a video or a disk, their image and voice can now be infinitely manipulated with/without their consent). It opens the door to a lot more bad than good, I think.

The fact that they turned down 1 billion dollars 20 yrs ago, proves that the motivation to do this isn’t about the money, they don’t need it as their music has given them a lifestyle more then they could wish for. Seeing them being interviewed the other day, benny and Bjorn are so humble and grounded and ready to create more magical music with Anna-frid and agnetha is testament to ABBA’s uniqueness and authenticity. I’m glad they are back altogether again and using this new abbatar medium is a very bold and groundbreaking move.. if they only did a studio album with no touring, the music would speak for its self as they wouldn’t of done this if they didn’t feel it was right… 🙏❤️✌️

@neuralvibes

@@lenawagenfuehr53 This is not about them being somehow ashamed of their old age or pandering to ageism. They have their own individual careers and musical projects on the side where they look and sound like their true 70-year old selves. This is not even primarily about them as individuals, this is about ABBA the brand. ABBA is not The Rolling Stones with a 50 year long career of continuous touring where the group's image and vocals has naturally progressed with age. ABBA ended abruptly in the early 1980:s and that's how they will always be remembered by their fans. I for one appreciate them for wanting to stay true to that image. This is not a classic reunion either where they perform old songs from their youth in their golden years, think of this more as ABBA of the 1980:s releasing another surprise album through time with the help of modern technology.

@@morningsky8045 I totally agree with your comments - especially Phil Collins, one of my all-time favourite drummers when Gabriel was with Genesis (so there's no way I would be paying to watch him sat in front of this current Genesis line-up trying to deliver those songs as my toes curl up in a cringe). To me, this would be like watching ABBA in the cinema - and - eventually probably on DVD. They would be 'performing' or should I say 'promoting' their new album which I know will be first-rate. However, as they appear onstage, after every song, there would be an uncontrollable impulse to cheer and applaud, for them to feel the love and appreciation from their audience, but they woudn't be there to feel it. The applause would be for the tech crew. I need someone to explain to me what the point would be - apart from the experience of witnessing the next step in the evolution of live performances.

Ordinarily, I might agree. But in this case, I think the use of digitized holograms (I assume that’s how motion capture projects), but there are a massive number of fans who never got the chance to see them as youngsters really will cherish the opportunity to experience ABBA as they were in their prime. Given the number of bands touring now with 75% or more replacement members, I think it’s remarkable (miraculous?) that this is 100% ABBA giving the world 100% of themselves for what will certainly be a record-shattering global tour of genuine performance even if they need a bit of help to endure the grueling work of touring a massive music show. It’s easy for folks that have never been part of the production of a live music event to underestimate the seriously demanding nature of the commitment to and fulfillment of a concert tour. It’s extremely hard work much better suited to the young. This is a compromise, for sure, but I feel like it’s one ABBA are making to assure the opportunity for millions of fans around the world to see them. And I’m so very glad they did. I was 15 when ABBA released their last #1 hit. And while I was (and am) steeped in American Hard Rock/Heavy Metal (my first real concert would be a year or two out - Ozzy Osborne, Diary of a Madman Tour) I had already developed an appreciation of music on a much broader scale from Elvis and Buddy Holly to Streisand, Sinatra, the Righteous Brothers, and Neil Diamond. Later, I would collect ticket stubs from John Denver to Anthrax - I just attended with different friends! This opportunity, a brilliant and wholly unexpected gift from ABBA is very nearly the equivalent to me of the resurrection of the Beatles.

It is really less of a question of whether they can do a full show every night, night after night. At their age, with their wealth, there is really no reason for them to do concerts night after night after night. They have resisted touring for years. According to them, they have turned down a billion dollars before tour. So, it is less about being able to do a show and more about wanting to do a show. Clearly, they do not want to.

The same rules may apply as when attending a really good tribute artist show (any tribute act). You don’t want front row seats. If the impersonators have mimicked the sound well, you want to maintain the illusion by sitting at least 10 rows back. With this, the sound will obviously be perfect because it IS Abba, but maybe you don’t want a front row seat for this either. I think it’s a fantastic idea. Now, not only is their music timeless, but this will also make them ageless. And it’s an Abba production, so you already know it will be as flawless as it can possibly be.

Wake up world your all dreaming the past.

@@emm8357 Your just making it as if ABBA today are boring and useless and old for you... Your getting old too love.. Its so sad to see how fans only focus ABBA of them as young but interesting how you don't appreciate ABBA of today of the real them today... rather then watching boring graphics... You can create graphics of them when they are dead past away.... Your just making it as if ABBA themselves are boring of today.. your brain is stuck about abba in the 70s when the 70s was long time ago... You have no idea where your heading to.. Sorry but really... Just angry about this fans. Think of it this way. If you where a singer and famous in the 70s... and your still alive in 2021... do you want people to only remember you of the 70s or today? meaning that today you have less fans and people make it sound like your dead in 2021... because people are only focus of you of the 70s only.. it seems as though you have a fetish of them when they looked young back then.. But now your making it all sound like abba today are old and wringled and useless..

Hehe...I think the Royal mail is happy about the digital age ---> "When ABBA's two 1977 concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London were announced, a total of 11,212 tickets were available. Tickets were only available by mail application. Over 3 million ticket requests were received."

It's great to hear something new from ABBA. But they shouldn't have done that digital rejuvenation. These guys are not 30 anymore... so why pretending so? Everyone should be proud of his age. So let us see them as they really are. Everything else is some kind of cheating... You can't turn time back.

Although they are depicting ABBA as a digital version of themselves today. Why don't they just be themselves in their looks and age today? They can sing their new music and classic hits. Although voices do change I feel that would be more authentic. Only because today's music is very artificial. And ABBA was always original in their time. Why depend on digital effects to be relevant today. They will always be relevant as themselves today.

Ahhh..that sound! Love kicking off with 'dont shut me down' yes pity those who do. Absolutely brilliant, yes yes yes to maintaining that ABBA sound just like you popped out of the time machine from the 70's. Was concerned it would be a new different sound, here when you hear this you know this is ABBA. Cant wait to hear the dancefloor gems roll out Voyage onwards guys. 🙏👌👍😌❤️

It's so fantastic that on ABBA's comment section you get to see so many different people from different countries appreaciating the band. I've never seen such a multicultural comment section

This is deeply depressing in almost every way. Father Time is ruthless and unforgivingly cruel.

Can't we just see the footage of them recording the whole show for the motion capture recordings?
