ABBA Does Your Mother Know Reaction
1. This is a good song. I can totally people really loving it in the late 70s and early 80s. Def a can see this being trendy.
2. I like the pause in the middle. I like the pull back there. Great dynamic contrast IMHO.
3. The balance between the singer and the background music seems pretty equal. I know that's how they want it but it's just something I really noticed.
Does Your Mother Know
ABBA
You're so hot, teasing me
So you're blue
but I can't take a chance on a chick like you
That's something I couldn't do
There's that look in your eyes
I can read in your face
that your feelings are driving you wild
Ah, but girl you're only a child
Well I can dance with you honey
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out
And I can chat with you baby
Flirt a little maybe
Does your mother know that you're out
Take it easy (take it easy)
Better slow down girl
That's no way to go
Does your mother know?
Take it easy (take it easy)
Try to cool it girl
Take it nice and slow
Does your mother know?
I can see what you want
But you seem pretty young
to be searching for that kind of fun
So maybe I'm not the one
Now you're so cute, I like your style
And I know what you mean
when you give me a flash of that smile (smile)
But girl you're only a child
Well I can dance with you honey
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out
And I can chat with you baby
Flirt a little maybe
Does your mother know that you're out
Take it easy (take it easy)
Better slow down girl
That's no way to go
Does your mother know
Take it easy (take it easy)
Try to cool it girl
Take it nice and slow
Does your mother know
Well I can dance with you honey
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out
And I can chat with you baby
Flirt a little maybe
Does your mother know that you're out
Well I can dance with you honey
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out
And I can chat with you baby
Flirt a little maybe
Does your mother know that you're out
Well I can dance with you honey
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out
And I can chat with you baby

Pretty sure this song is about a groupie. Of course ABBA being ABBA they didn't go for that rock n roll lifestyle and made an upbeat song about not being into it, while other music stars of era were well known for their exploits and not worrying about the age of groupies.

One of few songs Björn sings leading vocals. He and Benny are fabulous backing vocals. The boys wrote the songs together, lyrics and all and quite often about personal stuff, like at the end of their career. Two divorced couples on stage and singing about themselves

Abba was one of the greatest music groups in Europe . they were in the peak of their fame in the seventies . They started their career when they won a big music competition with their song ( Waterloo ) . they have many hits such as ( Dancing Queen , The winner takes it all , Fernando , The day before you came )

To say that ABBA is one of the greatest groups of Europe is like saying that Beatles were one of the most popular group in Essex,or wherever in Britain they came from,in other words, very unflattering and also, so much under estimated to the point of untrue.

Good day Jaybriel! and congratulations on your reaction "Does your mother know" It was the second single from the sixth album "Voulez vous" peaked at #4 in the U.K. it's a good rock demonstrating the versatility of ABBA's musical genres (the live version is amazing with the most powerful "Hole in your soul") upbeat melody from Benny, good lead voice from Björn, vocal harmonies and a powerful chorus from the flawless Agnetha and Frida some context data: the video is from April 5 and 6, 1979 (They also filmed "Voulez vous" those same days) curiously those two days were: Agnetha's 29th birthday and the fifth anniversary of unforgettable and momentous ABBA triumph in the Eurovision Song Contest (with their most iconic song "Waterloo") the blonde singer Agnetha and Björn (here the lead voice) were already separated since the end of 1978 (with two young children) what will be legal divorce in 1980 It must have been a very difficult birthday for Agnetha; but still, here she looks beautiful and radiant

Another great one Bjorn sings lead on is Rock me. It's actually the first Abba song I heard at 3 years old in 1976. You should get into some of their early songs too like Waterloo(they won the Eurovision song contest with that one) Dance while the music still goes on, I do I do I do, Ring Ring, Gonna sing you my love song, I've been waiting for you, S.O.S, So long, Fernando

Did you know, Jaybriel, that ABBA were so good that they & Led Zep held the record for the most consecutive No1 albums in The UK, 8, (even more than The Beatles) for 36 years until recently surpassed by Eminem. Enjoy your channel and hope that you react to one of ABBA's most beautifully sung songs "My Love, My Life."

I dont think its merely those back in the 70s and early 80s that could appreciate and dance to this timeless, great ABBA song. Maybe the greatest thing with ABBA,besides their obvious high quality,is the timelessness of their music. You cant really date ABBAs music. They were way ahead their competitors back in the day and their music still today dont sound outdated in anyway, unlike groups like for example Beatles. Thats why the musicals based on their music became stunnig sucesses and their ABBA gold albums, when released in more recent times then their performing years, still sold great even though they stopped working as a band long before. Only the highest quality band can do something like that. A trademark of that.

@@jaybrielakoi7747 because more than 90% of Abba's songs are with the voices of Frida and Agnetha. Sometimes it is good to change a little. But I prefer the voices of the girls.

It's an interesting point you raise here about the balance of vocals/instruments. That was very much by design. In fact I believe the vinyl master tapes of one or more of their earliest singles were returned by the UK publisher Epic, with a note saying that they must be faulty because the vocals were buried in the mix. ABBA considered the vocals to be just another instrument in contrast to the vocals + accompaniment style of previous decades.

I saw in an interview Bjorn talking about loving doing this song live and getting to play the rock star. He does a good job with it on the record but I prefer the live version from Wembley. They uptempo it and all of them really work hard at the sell. I feel that way about most of the uptempo songs. Would have been a bitch hauling all the people and equipment around but what a show they must have put on. I know they are recording new songs now and planning the virtual tour but none of them are getting younger. I would love to just see them all together around Bennys piano swapping stories. If they could do some campfire version of songs that would cool but not really needed. Their all so musical I'd be surprised if that didn't happen organically. Man the stories they could tell. That's my dream for an ABBA reunion. Why if Bjorn was involved I'm sure they'd even make a ton of money too. Thanks for the reaction. I love watching new people come to ABBA.
