Their unpretentious and humble attitude is a very Swedish trait. In Sweden, you are not allowed to boast about your successes or think you are better than anyone else. Certain Swedish actors have mentioned in interviews how embarrassing it was to receive awards.

@@shereekendall1003 true Bjorn and Lena got divorced now. At the 1 year anniversary of the ABBA Voyage concert Frida and Benny were there. Frida was seen stroking Benny's cheeck and he smiled at her. Not sure if Mona was there. But that baby that Benny had with her, Ludvig, he is one of the masterminds of the abbatars. Who'd of thought. Intersting thing I noticed too in this I terriers Benny and Frida are wearing rings even though they weren't officially married but lived together a long time. Benny wanting to marry Frida holding out.

Perhaps one of the first "indie bands" that were really successfull. Their independent style was pretty common outside the USA. Even within america, there were independent bands and artists, like Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell, contemporary with Abba.

Frida and Benny both said 10CC - the group that did I'm Not In Love and The Things We Do For Love. 10CC was revolutionary in their vocal overlays in "I'm Not in Love" - it sounded like a choir of hundreds but was just their own voices multilayered. They were the first group to have success with that.

@@creatinotionchannel2680 - The Carpenters actually multilayered their voices in the years prior with much success. But perhaps your "first group" identifier was meant to eliminate that duo and allow 10cc to be the first group. But I'm also a big fan of 10cc.

I'm a classic rock lover and I never took this band serious as anything other than a pop band that I had to endure Dancing Queen everytime I went to a club and hear all the girls scream and run to the dance floor when it came on. And then act like each one of them WAS a dancing queen lol. But after u hear people interviewed u sometimes get a different perspective and I may just give them a listen.

They did actually very well in America. They had at least 15 top 40 hits, three top tens, one number one and several top 20 hits. For a group that toured the United States only once, they did phenomenally well

America had different music culture.Abba weren't such a household name there. But as they confessed they finally didn't really care that much since they were Huge almost everywhere in the rrest of the musicverse.

Abba were quite 'Euro' for the USA market. Also radio stations,rock/soul/country ruled music media press and didn't do much for them, and they didn't tour there as much as they had to.But they had decided not to care less. They were already a music culture phenomenon all over the globe and sold unbelievable quantities of records overpassing by far their competitors.Latin America were also big since 1979.Neverthless-according to reports from chart sites-, their legendary 1992 'Gold' collection has sold over 11 million copies in the USA up to some months back, counting all formats available( despite Universal being 'stingy' and lazy enough to update certifications since 2002) and Over 32 millions worldwide and still going.

@@christianoazzuro6711 yeah as i said abba is a weird story ,the irony is they never visit latín América saddly they were asking for to much money in those days, also have great managment like other Groups too so they were very lucky in that situation, and is funny because when you hear abba you now ,you now them in one way or another even if i don't like his music but i don't remember his names ,just the Group name, and with the stones Beatles etc i now their names very confusing stuff.
