Always impresses me how complex and tastefull Abba basslines are.

Best ways to learn the bass , slow he song down , learn it and later speed it up. The tempo and details of the bassline are mind blowing. All ABBA music is mind blowing and beautiful.

Used to teach guitar for 10 years. Students learned to respect ABBA as soon as they understood the genius and complexity in their songwriting. And how great the women were at singing. Serious musicians know how to respect ABBA and the basslines are in general killer.

Wonderful bass take (and with playalong SCORE to help!!! THANKS!!!) of the best song ever from The Super Swedes, in my humble opinion - yes, a true masterpiece of sheer, complete and utter GENIUS indeed! Very impressive. Thanks for this (and now I want to get myself a bass, if only to have a wee dabble.. at least ;-) I can (sort of) play it on piano, but it's quite a tough cookie in Gb major with all those black keys... still, a sheer joy to learn.. and play... ;-) Once again -- WELL DONE - and THANKS...!!!

Thank you for the comment. Yes, it is in G flat major and some of ABBA songs are in the key like this but it seems they were playing in easier key in the concert. I heard the recording of the concert in Perth and noticed that Tiger was played in G while the original track is in A flat, and That's Me was also in G while the original track is in G flat. Thanks again!

Just spent a while playing along to these ABBA tabs on your channel. I must say, you've done a fantastic job, and as someone who was force-fed ABBA as a child and therefore rejected it wholeheartedly, I'm amazed to see the range of complex and frankly epic bass lines! I have found that the 'best' pop songs usually have a great bass part in there - even if most people don't realise or appreciate it at the time! Anyway thanks, and i shall continue browsing your channel :)

Thanks a lot for watching and sharing your comment. I have been an ABBA fan but even I hadn't thought about playing ABBA songs seriously for a long time, but then I realised how good the songs were and how unique the bass lines were.

Rutger; “I love bass. But I love guitar too! What can I do? I can only play one at a time. 🤔 I know….I’ll play the bass like a guitar!” Man his fingers must’ve been strong!
@sonicbluebass Жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting the comment. There is an article that Rutger was also playing classical guitar. So his bass play might reflect the technique of classical guitar. Btw, The Winner is played by Mike :-)

@@sonicbluebass cheers, it’s great to delve into the make up of a tune. After 51 years, I can still hear something new in most music! They were both legendary in my eyes, the way they used every string and most frets on every piece and almost always with no break from start to finish. And unless I look at album covers, I can never remember who played what. 😁

Thank you. My settings are just simple. I plug the bass to PC via Countryman DI & audio interface and record it with Studio One and apply the preset comp/EQ for bass.
