Oh my gosh, I feel so dumb! I have been pulling carcasses out of the freezer, roasting in my oven, then moving into my roaster with water to make broth. It’s a ROASTER, no need to use the oven. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Thank you for the obvious (but not obvious info for this slow-brained gal) info!

I've done Ben's Beans, dry beans method for years and have also soaked beans and canned, they both work great. Boston Baked Beans, Ranch Beans, Pork and Beans, Chili Con Carne.

I didn't know you could double stack to pressure can! I knew you could for water bathing , but not pressure canning! Game changer!

The rhubarb mint sauce with some sparkling water sound like an awesome summer beverage as well, spiked or not. 😉. Laying in the hammock after a hard day’s work with a refreshing drink, ummm, summer!

Do you add hot or warm water to your canner when the canning items are hot or warm?

I was in the middle of canning corn when I had to leave suddenly. I put the lids on my jars and put them in the refrigerator... When I got back to it 5 days later I open the jars and they popped.... Does that mean my corn is bad or can I continue where I left off

I don’t like rhubarb but ❤️ apples & pineapple. Would this be a good paring? ✅ out Little Mountain Ranch in Canada. Chelsea does lots of things with rhubarb!

I made a run of Rhubarb Mint Syrup yesterday 🥳 ❤ Do you have a favorite cocktail recipe to share?
@abbeyverigin5 ай бұрын
If you like gin it is great with it. I'll do gin, the rhubarb mint syrup and sparkling water. I don't have a strict recipe for it, just add the syrup to your preference. Sometimes I do less sparkling water, sometimes more to make it like a spritz. also good with vodka!

Are dry beans rebel canning? My canner came with basic recipes and dry beans was an option

Does your canned chicken become really soft? I find that my canned chicken almost disintegrates into mush. I process my pints for 75 minutes.
@abbeyverigin2 ай бұрын
I don’t find it gets super mushy, do you raw pack or partially cook first? I find starting with partially cooked helps to keep the texture without it being tough. The texture of canned meat is always going to be a bit different though
@Taking_Back_Thyme2 ай бұрын
@@abbeyverigin so far all Ive done is raw pack.

@abbeyverigin5 ай бұрын
We love it for cocktails. I'll do gin or vodka, sparkling water and some of the rhubarb mint syrup to taste. It's great on its own in sparkling water too for a mocktail :)

Great job Abbey! It’s so good to see jars go back on the shelf. Could you have saved the rhubarb pulp from the syrup for another project or does it lose the flavor?
@abbeyverigin5 ай бұрын
It does lose some flavour but you could likely use it for a filling in some sort of bars

What makes you decide if you use the pressure canner or waterbath? I'm interested in getting started, but only have space for 1. Loved your video, Abbey!
@shannonnewman92025 ай бұрын
My two cents is that if space is the only issue, I’d go with a pressure canner. You don’t really need any special equipment to do water bath, as long as you have a lidded pot big enough to cover jars with water an inch or two of water. A pressure canner can be used as a water bath, but the opposite is not true. That said, they’re not cheap! But over the last 3 years my All American has oaid for itself just in chicky broth. 😊
@denisepineda17885 ай бұрын
If you only have space for 1, I would purchase a pressure canner. You can water bath in it too so you would get two in one.

We will use it mostly on top of dutch baby pancakes in place of syrup. It would also be great over vanilla ice cream!

Please be careful putting your jars inside the canner, in this video it sounded like you were kind of dropping them and that can cause your jars to break when they get hot.
@amygoodson62535 ай бұрын
You are using your jar holders wrong. Please turn them around before you get hurt.
