The curling rod works perfectly for me. I spray my hair with sea-salt-spray beforehand and after I’m done with curling and curl every single strand of hair around it. Like I don’t add more strands as I go I just curl one strand til it’s done, and then curl the next strand of hair around the same curling rod. I have very heavy and thick hair and curls (even curling irons) normally last like 3 hours max. Curls with the curling rod stay pretty the whole day

Abbey. I'm 73 with one length to mid rear. I've been using the heatless curl for a while now. My method doesn't use any tool. I simply zig zag part two sections which I twist. Slightly damp hair with leave in 'It's A 10' product. It controls the frizz and gives soft waves. Thanks for the vid. I may try the sock method as I have a new package of very thin stretchy socks. Any of the methods you showed can be fine depending on the style, you're going for.🙂

I think the reason why you’re not seeing great results with the sock method is there’s another way of doing it-wrap the hair tightly around the sock so no fabric is peeking through between the strands. Instead of rolling the ends upward to cover the hair, twist the sock into a bun close to your head then pull the end of the sock to form a covered bun. The curls are tighter and if you’re a side sleeper like me, you can do this method by creating buns that run down the middle top of crown to the bottom so you won’t feel them as you sleep
@franziskani9 ай бұрын
To get tighter curls and not a lot of fabric on your head: Cut off pieces of the legs of pantyhose, stretch them a bit so the edges will roll in, no fray no running stitches. (you cut off let's say a ring piece from the leg of 4 - 5 inches. The initial stretch widens the ring - that causes the open edges (from cutting it, regular scissor, sharp is better) to roll in. The ring will get wider and the 4 - 5 inches will shrink. Then you can use them. Taking 2 or 3 of them for more thickness. Winter panty hoses (microfibre) will be better for the purpose, thicker material. I have tried cutting off those rings from cotton polyester mix - but there is some fraying, shedding. So it is better to stick with the polyester stuff. Try out when you cut off the first piece, it depends on the material too how much it shrinks. Once can easily wash those things (put them in a net so they will not get lost). The raw edges will not deteriorate. Rings from panthoseses that are only 1 inch wide and then stretched (they are long) can replace rubber bands (real rubber often disintegrates and it becomes a sticky mess, I had that within the crafts supplies - and not all of them were in clear plastic bags so the mess outside a bag stuck to some yarns). I also use them in the garden for plants - still looking for green pantyhose for sale somewhere ;) Or white ones that I could dye and then cut up.

I liked all the techniques mentioned. I would first try what I have at home like socks, leggings, robe ties. Then I might try the other ones. I have tried the satin material and finds it absorbs water in the hair and is gentle on the hair. I like the amount of curlers included in the octocurl, the snappable headband, and the elastics for securing the hair. I have tried other curlers that had 6 or less and no headband. The octocurl is good value for the price.

I wish that someone would do a video on how to get looser or larger curls. My hair is naturally curly, but not very hard to straighten. However it dries, it will stay that way and in this scenario, it holds a curl too well. I always end up looking like Shirley Temple! I've tried to wet my hair less, but I have to dampen it a little because dry hair doesn't curl at all. I've tried thicker curling rods or doubling them up and that helps a little. I also tried brushing out the curls and the frizz is it creates is unsalvageable! Lol. If anyone that happens to read this has any tips, please let me know. I've been going through nothing but trial & error for the last year! ❤

Open to any suggestions, it wasn’t cheap I’d like to find a way to salvage it. My tried and true heatless method is one Dutch braid with a paranda made from bamboo yarn (super silky!) to extend my length so I can braid past my ends. No wonky ends! @Kelly12372 жыл бұрын
A few suggestions- 1) Try putting a lightweight hair mouse in before putting your hair in the curls. It can be a little tricky to get it right but it does help them last. The downside is that I feel like my hair is a little more tangley. 2) I wrap the curls higher than Abbey. Hers look very relaxed and, for me, that method falls out easily as the day wears on. 3) use a smaller curler. I use a light weight scarf so the curls are tighter and this helps them stay longer. I wish I could get the big bouncy voluminous waves but my hair just can’t hold that curl easily.

hey abbey! Ive noticed that when i blowdry my hair with a roundbrush is feels super soft and silky, but then whenever i straighten my hair it feels so dry like straw! Do you have any idea as to why this could be? Or if its the straightener im using? ❤
@xqueenfrostine2 жыл бұрын
It’s likely the amount of heat and how it’s distributed across the hair. Hair dryers get hot, but some of that heat is lost as the air travels between the nozzle and your hair. With a straightener you’re putting two heated plates in direct contact with your hair which is more stressful. Getting a straightener that allows for lower heat settings and/or has plates that are made of materials that are more gentle on the hair (like ceramic) may help, but without knowing what straightener you use it’s hard to say how much those things might be a problem with what you’re currently using.

I recently bought this heatless curl set at Primark for like 3€ and it has some sort of styrofoam in it to give it that curling wand shape and a satin cover plus two satin scrunchies. I also use the crisscross method you described in this video and I add quite small sections at a time starting quite high up and it gives me the most perfect curls ever! Better than I could achieve with a curling iron (mainly I’m just not talented with those). I of course always put hydration and leave in conditioner spray into my hair to dampen it before I wrap it so it holds the curl better. i wish I could attach a picture of my curls here haha. The only downside of it is that it really is not the most comfortable thing to sleep in. But in the morning when I see my curls it’s definitely worth it!
