I was lucky enough to live over the wall from St Nick's for 14 years. This was a great place to bring up our kids. Thanks for the great video.

I can't imagine how idyllic it would have been to live there. It's so beautiful and peaceful too. Thanks for watching!

I have lived fairly close to Abbotsbury all my life and you have found out much more than I ever have. Thank you so much. All being well I will make a visit to this wonderful place ASAP next year.

Beautiful. Singing was fabulous. I'd love to walk amongst the gravestones and look at them. Thank you for sharing.......

It's nice to find a channel of another folklorist, historian and walker especially a local one (I'm on the Somerset/Dorset border). Nice video you have earned a new subscriber.

Thank you! It is a fantastic area to explore all of the above. I'd say by your youtube name, we both have similar spiritual beliefs too! Welcome to my channel.

A well put together video. Abbotsbury im my opinion is one of the UKs prettiest villages, and St Catherines is beautiful. We visit it every year.

Thank you, Steve. I agree, such a wonderful village and chapel. I hope to return too!

There is an amazing glass engraver in the village, one of the finest in the world! Well worth a look. She works in an old chapel. I hope you popped into Cherries for a coffee while you were at the abbey. Up on the hill to the north east there is the Hell Stone longbarrow. So many interesting things to see along this coastline.

I have been to the wonderful Hell Stone, and I intend to return at some point soon, along with a visit to The Grey Mare And Her Colts. I did stop at Cherries and had some delicious Dorset apple cake!

Cracking video Nic and you hit the optimum length of 10 mins. As someone else has said, do a bit more of you to camera, you definitely won't crack the lens!😊 You deserve a lot more than 181 subs, so I've subscribed and liked. A.

Nice to see the old chapel still being used by people to leave their cards and prayers...kudos to you for braving the field of cows, temperamental beasts they are!
@walkingthewyrd Жыл бұрын
I have to admit David, I was not keen on sharing the field with the cows! The chapel still seems to be very special to many, which is lovely. Thanks for watching!

I was once chased by a herd of bullocks on parkland-I had to jump a fence into a nettle-filled ditch to escape them! They still tried to push the fence down to get at me. The land owner came past in his land rover , stopped briefly to look and then drove on😢He probably thought “oh, it’s only a peasant”🤬
@walkingthewyrd Жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness! That sounds terrifying! Jumping into nettles too - ouch!

The UK honors its churches and cemeteries, here in the Netherlands everything is being demolished to put up terrible modern buildings, that is not progress but regression.
@walkingthewyrd Жыл бұрын
That's such a shame. History should be preserved as much as possible. It is after all, why we're all here today. Thanks as always for watching 🙂
