The people who really need to leave are those on the coast who are at risk of the storm surge/winds and those in known low elevation inland areas prone to flooding. You’d be amazed what 15-20 miles of distance from the coast will buy you in terms of safety. I think we need to do a better job in messaging.

@@mrlt1151 well let me tell you that in Miami the majority of the county is under storm surge warning either level 1-5. So imagine 2.8million people with the majority living near water ways. I live in a level 4 area. I’d still be impacted at a category 4, and I live near Miami International Airport (Miami Springs) which is about 30 minutes from the beach or 40 depending on the route and time of day I choose to go. Basically most of Miami is flood prone: true, that mu storm surge is far less than that of someone in Miami Beach is true. But a cat five comes in that’s as flood filled as this monster and all of us are impacted.

My subdivision is off of a river just north of Orlando and we get flooding every storm, and I’ve never experienced more than cat 1 winds. A good chunk is still underwater today. 2 weeks of water and necessary meds and you’re fine to hangout until the water goes down or they eventually get to you. I’m talking about the people who are at imminent risk of life and death. There’s some tornado risk everywhere, but when you see houses destroyed for blocks in a war zone hellscape, it’s really not all that much land. The issue is there are some people who rode out this storm, a little north, who think they made a good decision, but it was just luck that the storm didn’t turn their way. They will be there for the next one to hit. Nobody is going to have to tell me to get out of the way of a cat 5 storm.

Playing the race card is really sad. You have to understand that the worst damage is Along The Waters Edge. There are people of all types of nationalities that live there, so that's why it's not about race!! Mobile home parks which are being shown in a lot of the video are normally built in low-lying areas. The fact that they've gotten by this many years without a major storm destroying them is pure luck. There's too much loss of life and a lot of it comes down to people using common sense regardless of what the government says or doesn't say to get out. But as always, Florida will rebuild

Have we crossed the point of no return in terms of damaging the planet? There is no such point. We need to trust that our thought, which is our greatest quality, can change nature. We only need to understand the direction to which we should aim our thoughts. What should we think about? What condition or state should we aspire to and ask for? It has nothing to do with recycling or other activities that we commonly associate with as being sustainable. If we come closer to and consider each other, that we will reach an entirely organic, perfectly connected and round state, then the negative forces will disappear from the world. We need to understand that if we start thinking better about each other, then the planet will recover from all harm, because our thoughts are the strongest force in nature. Likewise, our negative thoughts about each other are entirely to blame for damaging the planet. That is why the more we recycle and invest in energies and activities that we commonly think of as being sustainable, the worse our planet becomes. I live on the Florida Coast. Ian was headed straight for our city, but skipped over and hit the Orlando Kissimmee area. I had an evacuation plan. Really, I do not understand my neighbors who said they would ride it out. Something that no one talks about are the elderly without family and who are sick with limited mobility and have older pets. No one even knows that population of people who are the forgotten and unable to drive 😢. Sonya RN

After I was severely injured by hearsts runaway 18-wheeler which flew over d road to hit my car, Hearst's men and insurance men came to disturb me and behaved aggressively, prompting Dr Parameswara to tell me tt I wld be killed after my discharge from d hospital. I was attacked in my crutches, pushed down d staircase and my face brokened again with relentless punching until Jennifer, a 12 year old girl living across d street rushed out to say that she wld call d police. They retreated on seeing Jennifer. All in, they made 9 attempts to kill me secretly (I saw death face to face many times and my heart broke many times and had suffered great depression for 30 years). Failing to kill me secretly, America then changed its tactics to get me killed by d authorities as in d story of Patty Hearst, Daniel in d Bible and Jesus Christ. At d Harris County Court, a black giant Gestapo constable strangled and choked me and carried me into jail for no reason. D pain was excruciating and I thought tt AdolpAmerica had succeeded in breaking my neck as I cld not speak or breathe and suffered neck pain since. I was in terrible anguish inside the jail, thinking tt AdolpAmerica had kidnapped me to send me to the gas chamber like what they did to d 6 million Jews as I cld not think of any other reason. The hurricane changed path we would have been hit in Manatee/Sarasota if it hit Tampa. We are blessed but I was praying for all people. My sibling lost his home etc and sister in law the whole place in Fort Myers. Do not blame the police etc. We as humans can't outrun the hurricane and backlash. @@andyrojo98 You are assumeing everyone has a vehicle. This was a largely elderly community and not everyone had a license or family to help. Also, the bridge was gridlocked until the shut it down. Finally, a friend of mine once evacuated and ended up in the eye of the storm when it made a sudden turn no one expected. Real life is not a logistics study or a video game where everything works as planned. It's messy and unpredictable. Also, these are real people not a statistic. Sure some of them made actively bad choice. Others where trapped by unfortunate circumstance.
