Thanks for the memories! I was 8 during the 1979 flood in Alvin! Holy crap I still remember evacuating on a raft... Then we had Alicia in 1983. Crazy memories.

Bay City, I was 7, thought it was the coolest thing to see everything in the house floating.

They had record rainfall in Alvin and only send out 1 reporter to Galveston...contrast that to today where they have 5 reporters out for a thunderstorm.

The accents are awesome. Sadly, you don’t hear it as much.

Good God, Ed Brandon STILL on the air in 1979. We'll never forget about that little incident with his "gentleman caller" in 1990. Amazing, he was not fired, esp in those days.

Probably in 92 or early 93, I was at a convenience store on Shepherd at Bissonette one night probably around 11:30 or midnight, so after the 10pm newscast. Mr Brandon came in and was plastered and obviously driving. 😂 That said, he is the weatherman I remember as a kid and it was cool to see him in person.

I was 20 years old and rode out Claudette in Lake Jackson , Tx. and unfortunately this News clip does a horrible job of reporting what actually happened that Day as it set a single heaviest 24 rainfall total ever for the entirety of North America land mass !

I was in Lake Jackson and it received as much as Alvin and no reporting there either , this was the biggest rainfall event in U.S. History for a 24 hour time period and is basically unknown by anyone that didn't live through it , Hmmm ?

@@MrSymbolic7 Alvin officially had 42 inches in 24 hours as recorded at the NWS that was located in Alvin on Hwy. 6 at the time. That was the record for the U.S. until 2018 I believe. Some location in Hawaii broke the record. However, several local residents measured up to 45 inches out on the west side of town towards Rosharon. I was headed into the 10th grade and remember this event like it was yesterday. My family was displaced for weeks.
