I think this is what happened: she took his hand but then immediately let go because she was gonna step on her dress getting out. She needed her hand to lift her skirts. She is not a princess. Her title is Duchess of Sussex. She can not be a princess, she's not of royal blood.

Her official royal title is "HRH Princess Henry of Wales, Duchess of Sussex", so she is a Princess *AND* Duchess. She can be called Princess Henry of Wales, in the same way there is a Princess Michael of Kent (who had that racist broach debacle). There are 2 types of Princess titles. 1 by birth and 1 by marriage. Since Harry was bestowed a Dukedom on marriage (by the Queen), their Duke and Duchess titles take precedence in calling. The same way William and Kate are commonly referred to as Duke and Duchess, even though they also have a Prince and Princess title.
