Alabama coach Nick Saban goes off on a rant about the 2011 game against FCS Georgia Southern in which his Crimson Tide defense, stocked with NFL talent, surrendered 302 rushing yards against the Eagles.

The thing that’s the best is that Saban remembers Georgia Southern running through them more than winning the national championship lol

hes 100% accurate on the Georgia Southern game. The wofe and i were at that game. They put up more pts on Bama than any other team Bama played that year

That’s Saban’s fault, not the media’s fault. Maybe he and his coaching staff should have prepared the team better for that game. I respect his accomplishments, but this grumpy old man rant was just stupid. The tin horn comment was funny though.

I'm a huge Bama fan and I remember that game well. Ga. Southern is a gutsy little program, but big time winners, great tradition, etc. They won my ongoing respect that day, they came into Bryant-Denny unintimidated and brought their A game.

They lost by 24. Their A game wasn’t even close to being enough. The game sure seemed a helluva lot closer than the score would suggest, tho, that’s for sure.

I went to school at UT-Chattanooga and always loved GA SOUTHERN more in the SOCON. The irony.. Ga Southern has the same uniform and helmets Alabama does.. just different color. I love those types of uniforms.

@@KristiLEvans1Georgia southern doesn’t have a roster that’s 80% blue chip players or more like Bama’s is and they sure as hell aren’t paying their coach $11 million a year, with a staff slap full of analysts and recruiters. These games shouldn’t be any less than 48-14 blowouts, with the 14 points coming against 2nd or 3rd string Bama players, and that’s what Nick is saying without saying it.

Not a Bama fan but this is why Saban is the best coach in college football and why bama keeps winning. Does not accept sub par play against any opponent. You better bring your A game for him each Saturday doesn’t matter if it’s versus a ranked team or an fcs team.

@Jagnole1019 ай бұрын
Saban was able to get a mulligan against LSU in 2011. Baffling, but nothing has changed. Didn’t win his division either in 2017…and then lost a game and passed an undefeated team in 2023.
@Greg-il3lq9 ай бұрын
The BCS got it right in 2011. The 2 best teams did play each other, and the best team that year won. OK ST. was all offense and no defense. Bama and LSU both were complete teams. Ohio St was not in 2017, but Bama was.
@Jagnole1019 ай бұрын
@@Greg-il3lq FSU wins a defensive game and they get crapped on. We win a game 9-6 and we get told “why didn’t you score 50?” Alabama does it and everyone talks about defense. It’s a double standard. OK State had a fluke loss and never got a shot to show they could possibly beat LSU. If Oklahoma State gives up that many yards to Georgia Southern they get crucified. Alabama does it, and it’s “well they are a really great FCS team…” 2017, they could’ve had UCF in there, since they allowed Cincinnati in 2021…but Alabama was ranked 1st in 2021 so it didn’t matter who was the 4th seed. Alabama didn’t even have to play in the SEC title game in 2011, and they waltz into the title game to face LSU with more rest for their players. The team who loses the first time almost always has the advantage the second time. Very few occasions where that doesn’t happen.
@Jagnole1019 ай бұрын
@@Greg-il3lq 2017, Wisconsin actually played in their conference title game…they lost by 6. Subjectivity and on-field results meant nothing, though…and they made sure Alabama got in.
@Greg-il3lq9 ай бұрын
@Jagnole101 Just because a team wins a conference does not make them worthy. The BCS was designed to put the best teams against one another. The BCS got it right.
@Jagnole1019 ай бұрын
@@Greg-il3lq it’s not fair that LSU had to not only play in a conference title game, but have to play Alabama twice that year. Alabama only had to win once against LSU and LSU had to win twice against them….there is no best 2/3. You see how ridiculously messed up that is?

I can assure you the new Coach and Saban will go over game plans for each and every game this year. Saban will still be a thorn in other Coach's sides until he leaves the Universitg for good. All the haters are laughing and celebrating thinking Bama is done. They are in for a RUDE awakening.
