We cut fire breaks, reduced fuel by planned controlled burns and many, more natural resource management practices that went largely unnoticed by the general public. This is not to imply wild fires did not still occur in those regions of the state, they did. I can tell you by personal experience we did reduce the intensity of fires and provided easier access for personal and equipment to access fires once they started. Population growth adjacent to the Angeles Forest and other protected land gives fire a direct access to many homes and business that, were mindful building restrictions and beneficial natural resource management implemented, would certainly decrease the magnitude of loss to life and property. The proven measures of forestry science have been overshadowed by tree-huggers that convinced small minded politicians to enact laws that have created this mess. Heartbreaking to observe my home State and it's residents impacted in such a horrific manner.

I realize there are a lot of “famous” people involved in the fires and it is awful that even “everyday” people have lost homes but where were all of the news agencies when the North Carolina devastation happened?! Not a single major news affiliate showed up. Some of the people are living in tents (it has been bitter cold), cheap hotels and donated campers that have no running water or sewage. I know all are just “everyday people” and not “famous” but their devastation is just as terrible. Their needs are just as bad if not worse. I think it is disgusting!!!

Years ago I saw how a wildfire had burned a whole naighborhood. One house was not burned. The owner had put hoses/sprinklers on the roof and around the house. Now if these people who rebuild their homes, does not put firehoses (one on each side of the house) like the once they have in schools in a closed. THEN THEY ARE STUPID AND ARE ASKING FOR IT. They have a water connection an 2 hoses like that can save their house. One hose to spray water on the roof and the other hose is used to keep the fire away from the house.

Multiple fires were set in 2000 by residents of Las Angeles. After that you would think no insurance company would EVER offer insurance policies in California but there were a few overkind, ultra naive companies who took a risk, gave LA a second chance, at extremely high rates of course. You can bet all the money on planet earth that in the board rooms of those companies there was a lot of yelling, cussing, even probable firing of any persons who had voted to offer policies in California after the recent fires. If you are a real friend, a self respecting relative of anybody currently living in California, right now, this very moment, you will call your friend, your relative and show you actually care about them by making sure they fully understand every insurance company will soon leave California, will cancel all California policies and will never return.
