The gun problem in this country right now starts at the DA's office and goes straight to the judges! Every state has a mandatory sentencing guideline with crimes committed with firearms. Everyday you have district attorneys that keep on making plea deals and basically the gun charge goes away. Then you have the judges that sign off on these deals. You might ask yourself why are they doing this? When you look at a DA's record it all reflects on convictions. If they can get somebody to plead guilty to lesser crimes then that is considered a win for the district attorney and they did not even have to present their case. That way they can tell the world that they have a 95% conviction rate. They just don't tell you how they get there. The judges are no better than the district attorneys. They are setting people free with little to no bail. This country right now does not need to write one single new gun law. If we start enforcing the ones that are there right now we can put a dent into this. You have people who just left the jail and within hours catch another charge and use the gun again. They even tell people that they're not afraid of getting caught holding a gun they're more worried about not having a gun.
