Tony......the silence in the trees, the crunching of your feet as you walk, the sound of snow pelting down on your jacket, and so much more really solidifies your talent as a videographer Further, as a Canadian, it's wonderful to listen to your narrative as you enjoy what so many of us take for granted. Hi Tony, seems that the buzzing sound that power lines produce is caused by a phenomenon called corona discharge. Corona discharge is an electrical discharge that occurs when a fluid surrounding an electrically-charged conductor becomes ionized. In simple terms, it’s the noise that air (surrounding the power lines) makes as electricity jumps through it. Really bad fires 🔥 destroyed many trees last summer in Canada.

Snow, rain, and fog causes humidity, air density, and moisture increases which increases the conductivity of the air. Which causes the electrical field around the line reach a conductivity tipping point. That leads to corona discharges and the noise. The snow also dampens other enviromental noises.

Hi Tony, Looks cold, but amazingly beautiful there. Power lines, especially high tension lines will buzz louder when there's any kind of moisture in the air. The energy flowing through the lines transfers to the air around them as it passes. More moisture, more noise. ( I used to live by some) Didn't they have any smaller RV's for you to rent? That thing is a beast!! Glad you're having fun!!!

Hi Tony, thanks for the great video. Here's the answer to your power line question. Apparently it DOES happen when it rains as well. The condition of the air-meaning the humidity, air density, wind and moisture from rain and fog-can all cause high-voltage lines to emit a noise. Because these elements increase the conductivity of the air, the intensity of the corona discharge increases, and so does the noise. Enjoy your trip.
