US had planned to use it. They had marked some cities like Hiroshima, Nagasaki etc for it. They never attacked these cities prior to bombing. Of course, they gave a strong warning of utmost destruction. History aside, Japan and US became good friends after that - same with Germany. But there is another dark side to this war, which is not mentioned anywhere. Lakhs of Japanese-American people living in US were moved to camps with pathetic conditions and they were held captive throughout the war. It was almost equal to German concentration camps. I knew about this dark side when I visited the museum in Washington DC. I saw a series of photographs. It was so cruel. They did it because they thought that these people will turn against US. And of course, majority of Americans hated Japanese in those years.
