Ellis to Meredith : you're nothing more than ordinary Meredith to Zola : you will always be extraordinary Motherhood can heal you inner child ❤️
@junbh22 жыл бұрын
That line made me uncomfortable. It seems Meredith still hasn't got fully past her mother's obsession with having to be extraordinary, although she's halfway there. Personally I think telling a child they're extraordinary is pretty bad, even if it's less bad than telling them they're not. In my experience it's the last thing smart overachieving kids need to hear. They need to hear that it's OK to _not_ be extraordinary. That it's not their job to save the world and that it's fine if they don't 'live up to their potential'. Kids like Zola are exactly the kind of kids who tend to put way way too much pressure on themselves already.
@Ceares2 жыл бұрын
@@junbh2 kids are extraordinary for a lot of reasons that have nothing to do with how smart they are though. I think the "always" says that. She's extraordinary to her mother in her very existence, she's extraordinary in the way that people that are loved are to the ones that love them and always will be, no matter her level of intelligence or what her future holds.

@@junbh2 i understand your point..but the thing is Meredith told her you have always been and will always be extraordinary..in other words she told her that she is amazing the way she is.. Zola was really having anxiety about letting her mother down and she expressed that when she asked her if it's ok not to become a Doctor . I think it's bad to expect your kid to be above the usual.. but if they want to be you gotta boost their self confidence. Honestly, I love this... I love how it shows all of the character and growth of Meredith, in this one interaction with Zola. She wouldn't move for Derek, because Derek wouldn't move for her. Sure, it was set up to be them moving for Merediths Fellowship when they started talking about it, but by the end, it was revealed that it was mostly just a convenient way to frame it so that Derek could fit both his surgical ego and his husband-persona into the decision. Don't get me wrong, I loved MerDer, and I still do most of the time. Derek helped build Meredith up to what she is, but he was also an ass who needed to kiss another woman to realise he was making the worst mistake of his personal life, because of professional ego. But with Zola, she was so ready to follow Meredith anywhere, never worried that she would have to start over in Minnesota because her mum would be so happy with Nick. And Meredith is every bit the mum she never had, so of course she would uproot her life for her brilliant daughter and only consider a crazy career opportunity as viable when she knew it would work for Zola. Meredith was never meant to be a trailing spouse, but she could never say no to being a trailing mum, because she knows that her sun is also meant to help light the way for the best things she's done with her life; Zola, Bailey and Ellis... :)

Am I the only one who thinks they are working on a spin-off?

I thought the same thing - the fact that they specifically just put her and Japril in the same place !

I think the whole point of Meredith moving is so the actress _doesn't_ have to keep working in this thing.

@@lightlantern I don't see them that way at all. They're trying to make her leaving more convincing and less sad by making a good story for how she already knows people there and will be doing something good. It also leaves open the possibility for occasional visits or a return, while also keeping her far away enough that it's not weird if we never hear from her.
