If the bag was small and fit under the seat, there should not have been an issue of putting that bag under the seat regardless. Because there are tens of thousands of flights where nothing happens. To be honest, I've never witnessed anything particularly poor about United, the only time you hear about things like this is when something happens, so keep that in mind. In defense of airlines though I fly frequently enough to know that passengers can be a nightmare. Apparently United/Express carry about 158 million passengers a year, something is bound to happen statistically speaking, I don't think there is any significance to United occurrences.

I had a 12 hour flight with one of those screaming demons. People almost got to a point of fighting with the childs father during the flight. It's not just about the kid screaming. These situations can get violent when people get angry at the parents or the child itself.. So mayby other passengers where reacting to the child, and thats why the child got removed.

gabbie I fly A LOT across the country because my parents live in different coasts, and I’ll say it probably happens on pretty much every flight. I have had a toddler kick my chair for about an hour on a 4-hour flight, I saw a grown man encouraging children to have bad behavior (They were singing, and yelling out about how everyone must be happy about it, giggling loudly, etc.) I thought he was like, 16 or something but no, he was a grown man. And they weren’t related or anything, just a stranger, acting like an annoying middle schooler. It happens everywhere and out of all the flights I have taken, none of these people have been given a warning, much less kicked off.

Btw, dogs or cats (any animals) cannot be in overhead compartment it’s not for animals or even under the seat. Even in domestic flights in most countries and airlines don’t allow pets with passengers. People have allergies these days (some people are severe) or very sensitive to the smell of any animals. They are normally checked in separately as cargo and goes underneath the plane in animal section underneath where an animal cargo attendant takes care of the animal until you receive him/her (they check if they’re breathing or under extreme stress). And it has to be safely put into a hard covered carrier where the animal can stand up and not touch the ceiling with the tallest part of the body and it has to be able to turn around by itself. That’s the best way to carry animals by plane. I’ve carried pedigreed animals (cats and dogs) and they’ve never died on me before. Letting an animal loose in airplane should NEVER ever be allowed not only for the obvious safety reasons but people these days can be severely allergic to cats and dogs (to fatal level you can get sued for this). And make sure you sedate the dog or cat if he/she’s young. You may think oh don’t want to medicate your puppy or kitty but trust me they would thank you for this as cargo area can be loud and they get scared of the noise even though they would put a cover and try to care for it as much as possible. Your cats/dogs won’t be so traumatized by air travel either. You need to take your animal to vets to be cleared if he/she can fly. And ask for a safe sedative. The cargo pet attendant will hand deliver your animal when you reach the destination. That’s the best way. And I’ve done this many many times.

They informed the flight attendant of the situation, after which she reaffirmed her guidance, perhaps giving them the false sense that placing pets in the overhead storage was a normal occurrence and would be safe. They did their best to follow the policies, procedures, and contemporary guidance of the airline. That's what I mean by "they did everything right." They were informed, concerned, yet compliant customers who trusted their provider, adding a sense of betrayal on top of the grief they would already be experiencing from the loss of their pup.

There’s no way I would ever believe that this flight attendant did not understand. If anything, this flight attendant in my opinion is 100% racist most likely. I am so disgusted that this poor little puppy died, and nothing was done. I have flown with United before. But after hearing the story, United can go to hell I will never use them again. I am so infuriated that nothing was done to this flight attendant. She is the one that KILLED this poor little puppy. The family said the dog was a puppy, new to the family, claiming it was like a brother is over exaggeration and they never checked on the animal in flight?
