One of the secret service agents approached me, asking to get into SUV, we drove to the security police armory and he requested I draw both of my issued firearms, he even knew the butt number of my M-16 rifle and was very pleasant to be around. I secured the Air Control Tower as Air Force One landed at Fairchild AFB in Washington state. The president came to see the damage from Mt. St. Helens, I was placed in the receiving line to greet the president and shook his hand while still fully armed!! Mrs. Carter was not with him, I am sure he felt out of place because she was not beside him. I assume he will follow behind very soon! God Bless them both and their families, I am sure the secret service agents cried privately at Rosalynn's passing, I have!! What a great example we were able to see!!
