I think its a "create a problem, sell a solution" in our capitalist society. Soon it will get so bad, that a solution will be sold to the public via policy and new laws...thats how it always works. take food away from people, make them starve then sell them back their food in morsels with an inflated price.

You realize that actually happens in American cities as well right? Or that plenty of school districts actually use public transit vouchers instead of private bussing because it’s far more efficient? No of course you don’t. You don’t live anywhere near a city with public transit infrastructure and you just go by what you THINK must happen, even if it’s far removed from reality.

I just got off the Metro Bus in LA. The line 720 to Westwood. There was a crazy homeless man talking aggressively to himself and while most of the passengers just ignored him. I was less than 2 feet away. He then proceeded to take out a foil, torch lighter and a tube and smoked what looks like fentanyl or meth. And yes there were children sitting near by and no one did anything. I was worried about my safety too. I just got off the bus and decided to walk the rest of the way. This is not the first time I’ve seen this on the bus. And reporting it to the driver does nothing. The best they can do is stop the bus and call the cops and the response time takes too long. It’s not just safely it’s the lack of enforcement. The smell, the unsanitary conditions, the overcrowding and I see that most people don’t pay the fares. They just go to the back and wait for the doors to open and they sneak on. The bus driver can’t do anything. Public transportation is so different in Korea or Japan. The main reason is because they don’t allow the homeless on the bus and they enforce fares.

What's the point to "ftredom" if you can't move about freely in your own city without worrying about your safety on public transportation or just being in public in general. Looks at the recent attacks in LA on the metro buses. America's cure for these issues is pathetic at best. Total shithole that even 3rd world countries are laughing at.

@@daryoushsameyah8329 Incorrect. LA decreased the police budget by 7% because of attrition. In other words, the entire budget for the decrease came from matching how much the police department lost in personnel. That 7% was then allocated to police-adjacent services, such as gang violence reduction efforts and mental health outreach around criminal behavior (all of which ultimately helps the police). It was *spun* as straight defunding by certain media. This is why the proposal for this year reverses that almost entirely, as it accounts for a hiring increase / recruiting effort.

@@BlownMacTruck You're wrong! Totally! Absolutely! 10,000% wrong! First off, the LAPD has lost $150 million dollars a year from their annual budget for the last 6 years. The funds were allocated to fund more local community social workers offices! You know, ransom money lest that certain kind does not riot, loot, and burn the city down. AGAIN! Furthermore, abd as part of the agreement, and on top the financial cuts, the LAPD lost 1,000 police officer positions. The strength of the LAPD went down from 10,000 to 9,000! The biggest problem, at least here in New York, is that we have too many repeat offenders being released back onto the streets. The amount of times that I've heard on the news of a person with 13 prior arrests who violently assaulted an innocent person being released without bail is more than I can count. The State's bail laws have exacerbated the issue, but the city's DAs are also not blameless.

Specifically, it’s mostly Democrat led cities nationwide with this problem. Democrat mayors keep saying crime has significantly decreased, and then you hear about how crime significantly increased. Constant lies. As always, they keep recommending the same failed solutions, but consistently avoid talking about increased punishments.

I dunno about other cities but NYC has 462 stations with multiple trains, and each train has up to 10 cars that easily get crowded. You'd need a very expensive army to patrol all trains at all times.
