When I lived in Chicago I went outside and played when cars passed I ran to the door or hid behind a white car we had. Every night in Chicago I heard gunshots, when new people moved in they were like "do these gunshots bother you" and I'm just like "no, I'm used to them". That is how bad Chicago is. My brother was in a gang and he and his really nice friend almost died and some of his friends were in a wheelchair and some in the jail most were in graveyards or hospitals. He went to jail for a day and my other brother and sister were handcuffed for safety, oh and why did my brother went to jail, because he had purple shoes and purple was a gang color now at this point my brother was not in a gang. Oh also my uncle almost got shot b/c a guy fired into our house in the living room. Also me and my sister in law walked to school. Soo my life was crazy and there were even more things that happened to me and these are a few things I can think of until we moved to Plainfield away from my home city I guess.

Gun's are not the problem there. It's the drugs and gangs. Those give the purpose to kill. I thought the the basket ball game idea was great because it turned gang violence into a more health competitive spirit.

the break down of the family structure breeds this kind of hellhole poverty. This is school not jail, its not the real world and these are teenagers. They aren't getting guidance and a moral code at home because they are raised primarily by single mothers most of which do a shit job. fix the families and you fix the problem.

The problem here is that there has to be a nationwide discussion about this problem. Every time this subject comes up in the national debate, it's always about putting more police in the street. That's only part of the solution. The other part is giving these people something to do. When you're not in school or working on a trade/job or out playing a sport for school, you're standing on the street corner. Solutions have to be made.

These famous stars & basketball players football players and Hollywood rich people they need to get together open up s*** for young teenagers figure out something for them to do and enjoy it then you will get a lot of crimes off the street that's the first step second step, rich people can do this open up something small where teenagers can make money and the business can make money too is all kind of businesses that you can open up every juvenile you see in every city especially Chicago they say no jobs they got to feed their family that's all you here I can't knock them for that you got to feed your family so what they telling you is if they had a job they won't have to sell dope they won't have to do robberies they can go to work make money like working people do and with that God Bless America and I hope everybody pay attention to what I said that's what's up hit that like button if you like this comment

people always say get rid of the guns, but what needs to happen is we need to put these young kids in a position to succeed..Gangs are built around economics, love and family, which are the same things these kids aren't getting from their community..I love the idea of hoop tournaments and internships and making education cool..Once you create a sense of community in the community having guns won't matter because you can't kill someone you love

So will disease and cancer, but you don't let the patient die from it. You get people together who know how to effectively handle the problem and treat it thereby reducing the likelihood that it will kill you, it's the same with gangs. What do you think that people are supposed to stop in the middle of the sidewalk and just stare at the gangs loitering in a street corner and say "there's nothing we can do?" Of course not. This has to be dealt by American society as a whole.

See this is the biggest problem. We need to start accepting accountability of our own actions as parents and educate our kids. How can you expect police officers, politicians and or mayors to be the problem when you as parents allow them to have at home or urselfs. Quit playing the victims: If you cant instill education or be part of their developments..you blame teachers. If you allow guns at home and know they have been used as crimes..you are part of the problem and obstruction of justice. Teenagers are having children yet uneducated themselves only to instill the same mentality to their own kids which then the population of uneducated, oppressed community expecting government help rather than building themselves for a better future. Nothing will ever change racism does exist but change also exist unless the black community work together themselves so that the perception of blacks arent called the victims, lazy, loud, classless.

I'm not trying to belittle your statement, but just being 100% with you............... Parents only play a small role in a child's decision........ Like in all honesty, and when you're in a inner city, that role played by parents is even smaller..... If a child has the urge to go kill, regardless of what his parents taught him, he will go do it........ That's just the way it goes

Although I agree with the majority of what you said, Why does it matter what color Jesus is? It's ridiculous. Jesus and the Lord are supposed to spread love and hope, faith and healing.. who cares if they're White, Black, purple, brown, orange? It shouldn't matter. So I give this proposal to you: love who He is and the people in this world.. Don't try justifying His color or race.. You say you're 'Christian' yet you're arguing about something completely the opposite to His word- race..
