@jimmyfigueroa14936 жыл бұрын
sopranosd that wasn't his point but that's a good counter argument. He probably didn't consider that factor if he really only sees himself as an honest scout. His point was that (if the mom if did trust them as scouts) she instantly rejected a true offer towards a modeling life in front of a little girl who might've had the dream to be a model. Your point is stronger because that would be a natural response for most mothers, I just felt like clarifying, since I for one really didn't realize your side at first on my own. On a side note, I noticed that none of the family's faces were blurred out so I'm guessing they must've gotten their consent to be aired on tv and the scenario we saw was slightly staged. Anyways, they usually don't go around with cameras for their normal day to day.

In fact everybody in the modelling industry, the photographer, the make-up artist, the designer, the scouts, the agents, they are all normal weight to overweight and they are all fine and yet they obsess about being thin on their models because that's going to be their revenue stream for the next forever years. They claim the reason why the models need to be so thin is because in case if they need to work in the Asian markets, they need to fit into the clothes in Asia because Asian sizes are several sizes smaller but the truth of the matter is, Asians are naturally smaller because of smaller bones. If somebody is naturally smaller boned, you won't be able to compete with them. You can starve yourself to death and you would still be fatter than them because your bones are bigger. People should really be more relaxed about modelling and treat it like the lottery, if it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't, meanwhile eat healthy, be positive and strong and enjoy life!! There is SO MUCH more in life than modelling.

Boxers have been known to Limit their water and food consumption days before a weight-in, Take supplements that make them sweat or use the water out of their body, visit a sauna once a day before the weigh-in and on the day of the weigh-in most of them do not eat or drink. In order to meet the weight requirement - The down side of that is Dehydration. The effects of dehydration are reduced blood-flow to the kidneys and muscles - rapid dehydration can be fatal. Don't get me started on the Jockey's - Because the crap some of them go through would make you sick to your stomach. FYI - You start training to be a Jockey at 16 which is a teenager! Honestly, what the guy model scout says at 1:23 makes me mad...I mean, he's making the mom out to be the bad guy...With all the stuff you hear about the fashion industry being such a competitive environment, and that it promotes an unhealthy lifestyle (ie- being stick thin, no matter what it takes), can you really blame the mom for saying 'no'?? Especially since her daughter is really young. I just wish that people in charge of the modeling companies would encourage their models to be at a healthy weight. Just to prevent the development of eating disorders...It's obviously different if the model just happens to have a higher metabolism, and can't put on weight easily. Hardly ANY women are that thin, (not to mention the fact that the majority of women are not nearly as tall as models tend to be)...They need to gear fashion towards more than one body type, and not just "the 1%"...Also, side note: Neither one of the modeling scouts is exactly in 'peak physical health' themselves, according to the type of models they themselves are looking for.

Beauty is not pain. Beauty is believing in yourself and having enough confidence to pull off *you*. So whoever thinks that there is such thing as a girlish figure, a stick thin representation of their true selves. You don't need to be perfect to be beautiful. Modeling with these barely there girls brings down other's self esteem and I believe that there is still hope for the world if we embrace diversity in modeling or anything for that matter.

I actually pity models. They're more beautiful than 'the rest of us', but at the same time the competition is inhuman (they're mostly treated like cattle except the few who make a name for themselves) and there'll always be a model that's better or younger than them anyway. Plus, when you age (=when you're over thirty)... bye bye career. You'd have to be REALLY down to earth and have options and a personality outside of modeling not to become completely crazy...

If you had posted a comment on the video itself saying that "all you girls are jelly of them hahaha" I would have ignored the comment. Now you sound like a child who continuously feels the need to say jelly as if it was an actual word in the English dictionary and trying to make me feel bad about myself.

@AlexandraLucasLeech9 жыл бұрын
My question is Why do they NEED to be thin. They are models that are selling us a product. Most of the people that will be buying and using that product aren't stick figure skinny. Also do you ever think that because you tell someone "Oh your waist is 2 inches to big, you can't do what you have been training for and dreaming about your whole life." Did you ever think how much that hurts there own self image? I just hope we get to the point were anyone can be a model no matter how short or tall they are and if they are on the bigger size. God I hope this world grows the fuck up and grows some brains.
@SweetYaoii9 жыл бұрын

It's not unfortunate that someone isn't stick thin--what is unfortunate is if they are ill--physically, emotionally and/or mentally--despite the size they are. That is the only unfortunate thing. Everything else can be worked with and monetized if one is motivated enough to do so and isn't afraid to remain original.

Ummmm 5'6 is not really tall enough, maybe suitable for editorial work but I doubt the catwalk. These girls are also at least a few inches taller and that makes a considerable difference in terms of weight. You really can't compare...

Applauses for the mother who refused to let her daughter be scouted!
@Naworah9 жыл бұрын
Much respect to the mother who said no to making her Young daughter being a model ...whether you like it or not modeling is based on appearance it's shallow there's nothing more to it, purely based on body image no one care about the model's brain and the knowledge she has ... I respect parents who want more for their children

This makes me so damn angry like come on. They're beautiful girls and you can hardly tell the difference like if we're being realistic, who gives a fuck? They all look the same height wise, weight wise and bust wise and waist wise I could go on. It's horrible. They're making regular girls feel like shit and they're making those girls feel like shit. It makes me happy that I'm not model material. I don't want to be scrutinised like that. And I can eat fries all day everyday.

Person Anon I have nothing wrong with my self-esteem. I'm happy with myself. But because a girl is 5 cm off the requirement to be a model who gives a fucking shit? Who would be able to tell the difference and what gives some older woman who most definitely doesn't meet the requirements the right to tell them they're 5 cm too fat? And honestly, good for your cousin if she can eat what she wants and can still be skinny.
@personanon97729 жыл бұрын
+lizzie ting They are making models seem unachivable that's why. The model world is tough but there's plenty of other agencies with different types of requirements.

***** yes, they are naturally tall and quite thin but they dont eat like normal people. in fact some models, when they quit modeling, in particular the catwalk, gain weight(agyness deyn), who knows why? because they quit the strict diet too. there are some exeptions but the majority isnt doing it without sacrifice, "naturally". it's probably more because of the environment("supportive"families, opportunities) that they start to pursue this career and so develop this determination to cure their esthetics and put all efforts to success, how can i say? there are a ton of common people that become icons only because they persevered. but i agree that the scouts are playing with fire, with the lives of these girls. they know some girls could take the wrong way, but they dont take resposibility, and it's wrong because they have to care about giving out the right message and that this is understood from the young girls they involve. one of those quit school and she might not make it in the modeling business, they cant ignore it, every job has to be done with responsibility. ...it's the whole industry that works with a shady, "pressure" atmosphere.. it's not "clean". that's why these scouts are dumb and "evil" and why this selection still makes broken hearts, it's still improvised, sketchy. because the magic, and fascination, come from these secrets.

I can't help but think that if one of the truly famous designers were to purposefully use a selection of girls of various body types, ethnicities and heights in a high fashion runway show.... it would be a big statement and thus a huge hit in the media and all over the news. If only...

Also, have to agree with Clare about the dog in that tiny cage. Truly hope that was temporary because of filming though I don't see why either way.
@puppykisses8910 жыл бұрын
Designers tend to go for uniform looks during a show. There are plenty of "petite" models in the industry, but you won't see them walking on runways. High fashion will never be anything other than tall and lean. Runway isn't about the model. It's about the clothing/accessories.
@riiraa8812 жыл бұрын
@@puppykisses89 Most women who buy the clothes aren't as tall as the models. People always think it can't be done until it is. Rihanna (through savage fenty) has proven that it can be done.

@emmacola35859 жыл бұрын
***** yes, but as the agents said, these girls are roughly 1% of the population. Modeling is clearly extremely exclusive. If you have the body shape they want, they go after you, if you don't then who cares? When I was younger, images of models affected my self esteem much more than they do now. I'm 21 and I merely see these girls as people that I don't look like and I could care less because I love my body, I work out, I eat an average amount. There are athletic women who play professional sports, do I feel insecure because I'm not as strong or agile as them? No. Do I tell them the athletic industry is forcing this unrealistic expectation to young girls to be coordinated and fast? No. The best thing to do is find supportive people in your life that will help you feel healthy and happy! :)
@emmacola35859 жыл бұрын
***** No problem! I'm sure it is very psychologically straining to be in this industry, especially as a teenager because most girls are insecure and being told you're not tall enough, not thin enough, etc, it can definitely affect you. At the end of the day, as long as you're healthy and happy, then it doesn't matter what's glamorized in the media. Thank you, I hope you have a good day, too!
