The man was a time bomb. Who expects a good outcome in life with that anount of vain pride and selfish ambition dictating them? Literally throwing the controller at David's head inside a submersible at the ocean floor because he was butthurt and knew he didn't have the expertise or professionalism that David had. The controller that operates the submersible mind you.

Stockton had a B.S.E. in mechanical and aerospace engineering worked on the F-15 program in aerospace, with absolutely no experience and qualification for deep dive submersibles. His company did produce some successful shallow dive vehicles. However, it was reported that he was informed by engineers who design deep dive submersibles that carbon fiber was inadequate material as it weakens with repeat compression. It appears from watching his interviews, and this incident his narcissism, omniscient and arrogance eventually killed him, and tragically he took four people with him.

This isn't that widely known, but Rush copied the design for his submersible from a US Navy experimental project. They actually did build a carbon fiber submersible with the same sort of glued on end pieces and made a pretty large number of dives deeper than the Titanic. But it wasn't manned, and the Navy abandoned the project concluding that carbon fiber was simply not a good material for such uses. I think Rush figured that he could make it work and only looked at the advantages while ignoring the obvious concerns. It's a bit unfair when people claim he just came up with the idea out of thin air. The Navy had proved it could be done. But his personal behavior was just unacceptable in such a high risk environment. I don't know if it was ego, emotional immaturity, or stress, but he had no business in the pilot's seat. His entire decision-making process was deeply flawed it seems.

I don't think you have any clue how "pain" actually works on a biological level. It physically takes time for the initial nerve receptor to send the signal through the correct pathways to the brain. You don't actually feel the pain until your brain has processed the signal. This process is not instant and there are biological limitations on how fast the signal can travel through those pathways. Even if you perceived time as being slowed because you were dying, that doesn't mean time around you is "sped up". The signals of pain being sent to the brain would still be travelling the same speed and never reach the brain to be processed before they died.

Bit of a rant here "see the rack" ABC news nr 4, so I take it that you don't have the time or manpower to do some proper subtitles on something like this? Googles autogenerated subs are notoriously bad. So a news business cant' do their job and deliver the news? Can't even bother to communicate or accommodate properly to people who might have bad hearing or a hard time with accents. Btw I personally hear fine, but this is just not a good look for you, I and many people have family members don't hear that well and tries to piece together everything.. It would take so little time to clean up and do it proper, I'm betting you have tons of people wanting to work with you, grab a techie, give them a coffee and thank them for the work. Lazy and all about the views, sad.

If it's true it's not slander. And there's plenty of evidence and corroborating testimony to back Mr. Lochridge up. Frankly, there's a lot worse that could be said about Stockton.
