An article in the Nine newspapers last week reported a raid by ASIO on security specialist Neil Fergus, who is also a former officer of ASIO.
Since the early 2000s, Fergus's company has provided security to multiple Olympic Games, been involved in securing outcomes in more than 50 kidnapping cases, and the repatriation of hundreds of vulnerable individuals from Afghanistan after the Taliban's return to power.
He has also been a media commentator on security and terrorism for two decades, including on the ABC.
Much of this story is shrouded in mystery but we've invited Neil Fergus onto the program to understand what we can about the raid and its consequences.
We asked ASIO to comment on the claims made by Neil Fergus that ASIO officers raiding his home had criticised his media appearances and that ASIO had leaked the fact of the raid to Nine Newspapers.
They said: "ASIO does not comment on operational activity. As a general statement however ASIO can only obtain a warrant to investigate threats to security, not to discuss media appearances."
"With regards to your second question, this claim is completely false - and the individual knows it."
