Hey Bonnie! Just my two cents.... I like the "not so hoarderish " videos too. Sometimes the trash and dirt is a bit overwhelming and it's comforting to see a more realistic mess. Also, the organizing gives me ideas on how to reorganize my own space! Keep going, sister! ❤

Thank you! I love that kind of feedback. I have actually been thinking about doing a series of videos of decluttering and deep cleaning my own home with a lot more detail about how I do it. I think it would be based off of Marie Kondo's ideas with my own twist to it. I think there are a lot of people who would be interested in that and it would help me to not feel so stressed about how neglected my house has become since starting this channel. My main focus would still be on helping people, but I think just having a video here and there to add to a series like that would be fun to do.😊

Don't knock yourself because you aren't cleaning up massive hoards. This house is what most overwhelmed moms are dealing with, not bugs and mold and huge piles of unnecessary stuff. This is real life for a lot of folks. What you do is help folks who are struggling to see how to organize the "messy" house, rather than the "hoarded" house. I loved your interaction with the homeowner over the OVEN. How to remove that day in day out oven grease. THAT is useful to know.

Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that. I am actually in the planning stages of doing a series of serious decluttering, organizing, and deep cleaning of my own home because it has become a little neglected since I started this channel and I thought it would be fun to do a video once or twice a month of my own home and how exactly I tackle each thing in more detail. There is only so much I can do at other people's homes, specifically with paperwork, etc., so you never really get to see how I would actually declutter and organize it if it were my own. I will still keep my focus on helping other people and doing my free cleanings, but have that as an extra video series on my channel for those who are interested in that. And, as an added bonus, I won't be so stressed about how far behind I am getting on my own home!😊❤ Thanks so much for your support!

It is about learning techniques to achieve goals in conquering my own issues that I most look for. It would be so helpful if there was focus on technique and tips added. Few content developers spend time on these areas they just show the before and after pretty much.

That’s a great idea to get the homeowner involved in the cleaning. It builds that ‘cleaning’ muscle again that they weren’t exposed to as young people or was just temporarily suspended. I recently helped an autistic friend clean one shelf in her pantry; she didn’t know that you pulled everything out of one shelf, throw away outdated food, wipe the shelf and put things back. It took us ten minutes - she was so shocked at how easy it was she has since cleaned her entire unit. Being physically there is important.

I totally agree. It's fascinating to me to realize how many people truly just don't even know how to clean or organize. I've always taken for granted that I was, not only taught some of those things, but was curious enough to figure out a lot on my own, but it really doesn't come natural to a lot of people, just as there are a lot of things that don't come natural to me. That's so nice of you to show your friend how to do that and to show her it really isn't that difficult. She is probably pretty proud of what she can do now and that's the most important thing!

I'm glad you are requiring the homeowner to be there. I think they should be there the entire time AND be helping. They can be decluttering off-camera, giving input about where they want things to go, and seeing all the work you all are doing. It's also good from a legal perspective to deter accusations of theft, property damage, etc. You're doing them a huge favor, doing these cleanings. You're not a maid service. Some responsibility on their part should be part of the package.
@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp Жыл бұрын
I agree on them being there for at least part of the time. I think it would be really hard for a lot of them to be there the entire time I am since they either have jobs they need to go to or kids that need to be taken different places, etc. Plus, I actually prefer to work without them there because it makes me less anxious without them kind of hovering over and watching things. I have kind of a system down where I just get things sorted out into different categories and then a lot of the time I have them be the ones to put it away or to go through the box to decide what they are keeping and what they are getting rid of. Now, if they were off getting their hair done or going to lunch with friends or something like that while I was at their house cleaning, that wouldn't really fly.🤔😊 Anyway, that's the reason why I just require at least a little bit of their time. It's also helpful to have them there the first day so that I know what things are okay to throw out and things like that.

That business about her ex dumping a bunch of stuff on her doorstep reminded me of this story: several decades ago, I got a job in the welfare department. One of my clients was a divorced woman who told me that when her then-husband decided he no longer wanted to be married, he drove her and their two kids to the welfare department and dropped them off. Can you imagine?? Then he moved, coincidentally, to Australia! From what I could tell, she seemed to do a good job of raising her kids, totally without any help or child support from him. In comparison, having “stuff” dropped at your door wouldn’t be as bad. But certainly not one bit pleasant or helpful. I've been watching some of your videos without commenting but now I think I'd like to say some things that apply to ME. When I was younger I kept my house so clean, despite working full time. When my parents aged and couldn't do cleaning, yard work, etc., I did it and my own home and yard as well. I organized, I cleaned...no problem. And then I got older, my stamina decreased--what I used to be able to do in 20 minutes was taking more like 2 hours. My muscles tired first....and then my brain tired. When my husband passed away---we had been together more than 54 years and married more than 51 years. I didn't realize how those little conversations together, those "what do you think about this? Should we toss this? Should I buy this?" were really NOT little small talk conversations but rather, affirmations--it was OKAY to toss this or to donate that, we wouldn't need to save it "just in case". Now, without those conversations, those thought-out decisions about what the right thing to do would be, I just put things in a corner to decide about "later." It started so simply, so small. Before I realized it, there were more of those things, more corners filled. That one little pile that I couldn't make a decision about had become multiple piles and the decisions to deal with them became impossible. What had become of the woman I used to be? The one who dove right in, made decisions, took things to the thrift store, threw things out? I don't know, I'm still trying to find her again. Never in a million years did I think I would be in this situation, never. So please, before you criticize the people this wonderful woman helps, please know that one day it could be you too...just like it became me. Be kind because we are hurting enough for you and ourselves. Instead, watch and give thanks that you're not in the same position...at least not yet. Please, do not criticize Bonnie--she's DOING while the rest of us are watching. And Bonnie, please keep shining your light.
@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp6 ай бұрын
Your comment made me cry. You could not have timed it any better. The video that I'm working on right now it is all about how to help a friend or family member who might be struggling and I will be talking a lot about my friend, Tisha, who suddenly had her world turned upside down with multiple health issues all at once and is not the same person I knew 3 years ago. She's having a really hard time coming to terms with her new reality. She just sent me a text that sounded very similar to what you just wrote. She never in a million years would have thought she would be in this situation. Life is tricky like that. We can't predict what the future holds and when something traumatic or life-altering might happen to us where we are suddenly the ones who need some help. Even if it's not suddenly, but just with aging, it's hard to accept that you can't do the things you used to be able to. Or losing a spouse and not having your partner there to help you make those decisions. People struggle in so many ways and those who jump on these videos to criticize or condemn theses strangers whom they know very little about may very well find themselves in a similar situation someday with no one to help them because they have been so unkind. So, thank you for yet another reminder of how quickly things can change and we will all probably find ourselves in a situation where we need a little help.❤️❤️❤️🙏

I think a self-diagnosis is good enough. If it fits and makes sense, no need to spend the money to get an official diagnosis, but it is interesting to realize you might be autistic. All of a sudden, all of the pieces of your life fit together a little better and make sense.🤪❤️😊

Bonnie, I’m sure you know this… when plunging either a sink or bathtub, as you plunge, hold a cloth tightly over the overflow space ( not sure the proper term ) it works almost every time. It creates a strong suction. Hope this helps. A plumber showed me this. Love all your videos ♥️

I liked this video very much. Please stop comparing yourself to other sites. You have your own niche - view it that way. No need to feel insecure with your talents. Thank you! And, as an added bonus, I won't be so stressed about how far behind I am getting on my own home! ❤😊Thanks so much for your support!

You all did a great job. And it's a bit heartening to know that perhaps there aren't very many "hoarder" houses in your area. I really never realized there were so many people suffering from that until I began to watch the cleaning videos. They are a tremendous amount of work I'm sure. So it's nice that you get to help some people who have just gotten a bit overwhelmed by life's demands and maybe resources limited and make a difference for them. You're so sweet and special and you're doing good things ✨️ 💗
@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm not sure that there is a lack of hoarder homes in my area or if people are just too ashamed to ask for help. I know Mack said that it's pretty much an epidemic where he lives, so I think people are not quite as ashamed of it because a lot of people live like that. So, if I ever get houses like that, I will consider it a bonus, but in the meantime, I will just focus on helping people with whatever it is they need. Thank you for your support!🙏❤️

I find houses which are more on the regular side easier to watch, especially when there's a bit of organising in there as well. My personal preference also steers towards shorter videos, so anything around the 15min mark. Obviously this wouldn't be the whole house then but just 1 or 2 rooms 😊
@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp Жыл бұрын
I also prefer slightly shorter videos, like 15 to 20 minutes. I have had more feedback though that people like the longer ones, which is why I started making them a bit longer. But, I guess on these longer ones, you can watch them in two or three sessions rather than all at once. Thank you for your feedback! I'm also glad to know that you like the more regular type houses over the super dirty and cluttered ones.

Sweet heart you can't compare yourself with Mack and Barbie because you all do so many great things and you do it your way. Barbie is like a super cleaner for unbelievable messes and you are a wonderful cleaner but you are a super organizer and Mack is 50/50 super cleaner and organizer. That is why when you did the collab, you worked on both of your strengths and weakness to get the job done. I love your videos because it makes my old OCD soul calm. LOL This was a wonderful job for all three of you and it turned out wonderful. Keep up the great work sweetie and don't compare your work with anyone else as your are unique. Ok? See you next time!

Thank you, you're so sweet! It was a great collaboration for that reason. We do all have our strengths. When I started my channel, I really only knew of Auri and the big messes she would clean, so I thought I would need to duplicate that to actually do well on YT, but I have since realized she is an anomaly and already had the professional cleaning background and contacts and now has a lot of help finding those homes, so there is no way I could ever compare to that, and that's fine! I would actually rather organize than clean up huge messes and there is a niche for that as well. I am actually in the planning stages of doing a series of serious decluttering, organizing, and deep cleaning of my own home because it has become a little neglected since I started this channel and I thought it would be fun to do a video once or twice a month of my own home and how exactly I tackle each thing in more detail. Welcome to the Autism club 😃 I hope that your diagnosis gives you some peace of mind. I didn't think my dx would make a difference, because I was already 'coping' (or I thought I was), but it was life-changing and I am still learning things about myself even 4 years later.

Thank you! It has certainly been interesting to learn how much of this stuff I do is related to the autism. I have felt guilty for so long that I am not that affectionate towards my husband. I love him so much, but that has always been a sore spot in our marriage is that I'm just not that affectionate and I have never been able to figure out why I am that way until this diagnosis. So, I feel a little less guilty about that. I still feel bad that I'm not always able to give the amount of love and attention to him as he needs, but at least I can cut myself a little slack. But I think now that I am more aware of why I am that way, I can figure out some ways to still make him feel loved and appreciated even with the way my brain is wired.🤔😊

Aw, thank you. I'm glad it has helped. I also had preconceived notions about autism. I had no idea there were different levels based on how much support they need. I think we almost always think of level 2 (requiring substantial support) or level 3 (requiring very substantial support) autism when we say that someone is autistic, but there are probably hundreds of thousands of people who are level 1 autistic and not even know it. They just know something is different about them. It is really nice to have answers as it helps to navigate the world a bit better.

You may not see this cos its an older video that I just found today but I wanted to say that I also appreciate the occasional video that is not quite as “hoardish” but has some mess that needs organising as well as cleaning. I think most of us have some space in our homes that could be better organised and would enjoy seeing that kind of video. Also I love the videos where your mum is helping, she’s so sweet! I wish there were more people in the world like you Bonnie, it would be a happier( and tidier) place. Im happy to see your channel is doing well, you deserve it ❤️

I still read and see every comment, so I appreciate your feedback on this one. I think there are a good number of people who also enjoy the sort of in between houses that aren't super overwhelming with a huge mess, but just need a bit of organization and a little deeper cleaning. And that's definitely what I enjoy the most. I do like the big transformations, but they also can take it out of me mentally and emotionally because I have found a correlation between the size of the mess and the amount of mental health issues there are. I don't think I am equipped to deal with some of the bigger issues like hoarding as well as I thought. I will still help anyone who needs it, but I do enjoy doing these not quite so over-the-top homes. 😊
