The writing with phonics 2 I saw was in cursive. Did the Abeka curriculum start cursive in grade one then?

Do you purchase the child kits as well as the parent kit? Does the parent kit come with the videos or do I have to purchase separately?

Hey Karen, we have only ever done the video options so I can't speak for sure if you do the parent led option, but I believe you can pick and choose which kits/textbooks and supplemental materials you want to use. If you do the video option, you can do only the videos (meaning you wouldn't receive any textbooks) or you can do the full video option with textbooks (this is what we have always done) If you do that option everything is included. Answer keys, reader books, some additional flashcards depending on the grade level, the video manual, etc...😊 Hope that helps!

Hello I'm new to your channel , we are going to be homeschooling for the first time in 2919/20 school year, we have been looking into the abeka curriculum, do you guys just use the parent/kid kits with the video or are you apart of the accredited program? Just trying to figure out what road we want to take. Thank you for your help

Hi Linda! How exciting, we love Abeka. We are not part of the accredited program currently, if we continue homeschool past the elementary ages I would begin that starting in JR. High. The only things I keep are their graded tests/quizzes and the journal entries that my daughter is writing.

This is an awesome video! I've been so curious about homeschooling. What made you decide on homeschooling? Whats the most challenging thing about it?

Thanks Kathryn! I was homeschooled until 9th grade and then went to Public so it was always something that I felt I would need to decide once I had kids. Our life being so mobile is definitely a huge factor, It's so much easier not having to deal with new schools and we felt that it was important to keep our kids home for at least the early years to get a stable foundation under them both personally and educationally. As far as the most difficult aspect it is for sure the lack of personal free time I have for myself. It's a lot of work and planning to get time for myself.
