The horror! A child with unusually thick skin on their feet and hands will be raised by loving, caring, engaged parents who are clearly generous of spirit and committed to doing their best by their children. How will society ever survive?

I know you’re being sarcastic, but just for future use, I would advise you put “/s”, which is the tone indicator for sarcasm, at the end of a sarcastic statement or post. This prevents confusion that is more likely to happen over text, especially short form text, and also helps out those of us with reading comprehension issues (including ESL speakers) and other disabilities that make figuring out tone difficult.

I'm glad you're telling everyone the truth. People always think they know better, until they're in the position themselves. Then all of a sudden most will bend the rules! You sound like you had great parents who helped you feel secure despite having "different" skin on your hands and feet- and now you're doing the exact same with your own son. I hope your channel blows up with all of us who love skin scraping and picking and it allows you and your family to have some awesome experiences because of it. 💜😊

I absolutely love how you spread awareness about this condition and too be honest it's quite interesting. You should get a job specifically doing this cause you get it done so professionally that you can't even really tell. If I seen your hand and not know your condition I wouldn't be able to tell that you have this. You really do good at managing your and your child’s hands and feet I just find it very interesting in your condition. Definitely keep posting these videos and screw what the rude people say cause you have supporters who will defend you and your son and again you do an amazing job at managing this.

Something doesn't make sense. What's the harm in not being born? Nobody ever knows the difference. In fact, there's a school of thought (antinatalism) that holds that not being born is the best possible outcome. While I am sympathetic to that, one need not be anti-natalist to understand that nobody minds not being born. Adoption is no easy thing, but it's always worth looking into in a case like this.

My family has Huntington's disease. My grandma had onset at 55, and she lived to be 76. One uncle and one aunt has died from it too. So far, my dad hasn't had onset. He's 67, so hopefully he didn't inherit it. I did not know anything about this. My dad abandoned me as a child, so how was I to know? Huntington's disease is autosomal dominant, which means each kid born to a parent who has it, is 50% likely to get it too. It's also fatal, and there's no cure. It is what it is...
@klitization
@klitization 9 ай бұрын
So the wise choice if you want to parent is to do foster care, adoption or fetus screening. No need to cause any other living being that cannot be asked wether it wants to be born or not unneccesary suffering. That is why I hate this video and her stupid opinion. To say that everyone has the right to reproduce whatever the circumstances is nausea inducing. Not all condictions are as mild as having to much keratine in your hands and feet. There are conditions that are horrible torture.
@Chris-eo5be
@Chris-eo5be 9 ай бұрын
@@klitization not everyone knows that they might carry something like that either. I had no clue. Before I found out, I had three kids. So far, my dad doesn't show onset and the older he gets, the less likely it is that he has it. Personally, I couldn't imagine my life without my kids and I'm glad they're alive. Also adoption is super expensive and not everyone can afford it. Having been in foster care myself, and having siblings in foster care that ended up being adopted from the State, I would never foster. Every single one of those kids have trauma and will most likely be issues for you to take care of. No thanks. Fetal screening, nah, I don't believe in abortion. Had I known about the Huntington's Disease in my family, I might have chosen not to have kids, but I don't know. Right now, the outlook is good for me and my kids. It appears that my dad doesn't have it. If he doesn't have it then I can't have it either, so my kids also won't have it. However, there's suffering in life. You can have a normal, healthy child who ends up with leukemia and dies. You can end up in a car accident, and your child survives it, but he is a vegetable and is now mentally deficient. There are no guarantees in life, that's my point, and people who have genetic issues that run in their families may not know it, or they may not know they have it.

My sons father also has this and so did his mom, brother, sister and there father. What I have been told is that it’s a higher chance of females getting it to males. Also, it’s a 50-50 chance of getting the hyper keratosis if you have one parent with it and one parent without it. I also have been told that it is super hard to pass it on if your not born with it.

But who will take care of his skin when you’re gone. You should be realistic with it: it’s a cruel comment but it’s true. Your son will have a harder life; and chances are you’re not gonna be glued by his side as an adult so his mommy can shave his hands and feet. What about when he’s elderly and his skin gets neglected. Idk you did knowingly make his life hard so you could experience having children. That is selfish lol be self aware. Whether you knew 100% or not girl

Yes addressing it to you bluntly is rude, but it’s true honestly

Saying you shouldn't be allowed to have kids because of a genetic flaw is discriminatory!

The commenter should think before posting. I wonder if they have children? And if they do,maybe they shouldn’t have had children,they might turn out cold and cruel like them.

I like the idea of eugenics. now i know everyone is shocked and will think i am a nazi and that it is incredibly rude of me to think this way. my skin is fragile, factoring out the time unconscious because of sleep my skin is painful and itch for a continuous 10 years. Even my sleep is disrupted and delayed by my skin condition. There are treatments for me but no cures at all, even the treatments are not that effective at stopping the pain and itch, so i have come to the conclusion that unless gene editing provides a cure i will not be passing on my genes. it should always be the people with the condition that should worry about it. you certainly have worried about passing on your skin condition but having tough skin isn't a curse but often a blessing at least compared to skin that is trying to tear itself apart.

I don't like the idea of GOVERNMENT FORCED eugenics.

@@turquoiseturquoiseturquois1174 I agree, any forced or coercion is bad and could possibly lead to a belief of a "superior race". I think what I might be advocating for is government sponsored sperm Banks and easy access to abortion with the goal being to reduce barriers. Also if one went too aggressive with a eugenics program could destroy good mutations. Another possibility is waiting a few decades for gene therapy and gene editing wich could render eugenics irrelevant.

I think there's a difference between eugenics and a person's personal choice to have biological children. One is a forced sterilization situation and a basis of "these lives are intrinsically not worth existing because of this reason", and the reasons are always shit like skin color, religion, or disabilities. Whereas weighing the pros and cons of a potential biokid is a complicated process, and some people will come to different conclusions based on their circumstances.
