Hello resto, there is 2 kind of hydrolic lifters on golf 3 and the difference is the weight : 56 g on 08 mm valves and 70 g on 07 mm valves, it is a very important to not use the wrong lifters. Lifters on golf 3 have 2 elements inside and one spring and the weight i am talking about is the big element one. On pd Tdi lifters have 03 elements and 02 springs and you can use theme on golf 3 with 07 mm valve in place of the 70 g ones If you want I can send you the documentation.

Really found this useful, just finished building my KR and managed to pick up a ABF as a little side project for winter. I was considering using the KR head as I spent a lot of time on the ports but after what you said it would benefit using the ABF one. Thanks 👍🏼

The early ABF heads use the same valve cover, tensioner, gasket, etc... as the KR/9A. Cutoff is mid 1994.

Very informative video. Keep up the good work👌💯 I cannot wait for you to assemble the motor again. Please do a detail video of assembling the motor. I would really appreciate it🙏. Very good content and straight to the point👌👌

Thank you friend, yes there will be a few video's showing a assembling due the using a diesel block

i bought an audi 100 c4 with the 2.0 16v ace engine , replaced it with a abf because of the electronic injection but used the ace head on the abf block , could never pass emissions test on the yearly inspection in Portugal
@RestoDesignsnando Жыл бұрын
Ok so you used ABF block and ABF digi injector yes? the ACE head has KE-Jet cams or did you used the ABF cams in the ACE head? maybe that is the issue. But also scan the ECU to check the coolant temp switch is working 100%
@mgtworld Жыл бұрын
@@RestoDesignsnando i used the ace cams , i tried 2 ecus and i only get the map sensor error in both ecus , but the map sensor is inside the ecu itself
@RestoDesignsnando Жыл бұрын
@@mgtworld I see, open the ECU and check the small pipe is good, if it is then maybe the map sensor error could be due to the ACE cams as the vacuum levels are different due to the ACE cams having less lift and duration on the inlet cam compared to the ABF cams. maybe?

Great videos, just discovering them, I have a mk1 campaign with a KR fitted……but just bought a 20v turbo lump and thinking of doing a tear down/rebuild video myself

Thank you mate, I'd say yes go for it Stuart, I don't think there are many 20v block head video's 👍🏼

Imagining the play in my exhaust valve guides in my 330k+ kms ABF..... Still wouldn't say it's too noisy but the h*ll do I know lol.

wow 330km 👍🏼 that is amazing. These ABF's engines really least.

@@RestoDesignsnando indeed. A friend of mine has 460k on his but that car is smoking a lot. Mine is not touching it's oil which I would say is amazing with the fact it's been ran on LPG for the last 15 years. According to the local VW forums, an ABF that has ran only on petrol can last up to 500k before needing a rebuild while a LPG one dies at around 200k. Still, its starting to show it's age with starting and running harder when cold - me, as an el engineer, have failed to find any electrical cause so far (only the baked degrading engine harness left to replace), and soon will blame it on worn out mechanical parts.

@@plamendimitrov5762 Maybe do a compression test and also a 'leak down test' 👍🏼 15 years on LPG 😮 that is amazing.
@plamendimitrov57622 жыл бұрын
@@RestoDesignsnando It had a compression test and although I never got numbers, my mechanics described "it's a bit lower but identical across so the engine is fine".
