I connect her to the cannibal colony through helluva boss cannibal family who name drop her, as well as to allistor seeing as he’s a regular there and Rosie (plant name whose former business partner had their name written in thorns) has never been betrayed by the guy we know is betraying Charlie. It’s possible that eve/roo might be Charlie’s mother. Also, the cannibals are motivated to fight with music, straight from the story book from the first episode. The question is what happened between the first two women?

12:55 Charlie's not a Mary Sue for different reasons. Mary Sues are universally loved and written to be perfect. Charlie's unlimited kindness houses her core flaw - her naivete - and most denizens of Hell see her as a joke. She's clearly sheltered, doesn't know when to quit and frequently makes matters worse for her and hers when trying to improve them, though the biggest example(the more frequent Exterminations) have her matter so little that she's merely a convenient scapegoat for a much more serious issue. The only ones who are explicitly shown to like her are: -Her dad -Her girlfriend, the fallen angel she nursed back to health and was literally the first person to show her unconditional kindness -The guy who she gave free housing to and a possible if highly improbably out from the cycle of prostitution, and even he can't help but mock her naivete once in a while -The guy who's heavily implied to have cut a deal to watch over her and clearly has ulterior motives And -White Glove Society type cannibals who like everyone who sings and dances as much as they do I think Charlie's height (6.5ft) could imply she is indeed a Nephilim.

She outright said she's not a direct Mary Sue, but she absolutely has facets of it. Everything you WROTE are facets of Mary Sues. "She's sheltered and so kind and she's super powerful and special, but no! No, not everyone loves her! Just the people of consequence to the story love her. People hate her too, when it's convenient to boost her as being perfect in every other way as a sweet and super powerful but somehow ultra fragile sugar bear." A massive trait to a Mary Sue is that people only love a Mary Sue until she needs to suffer for drama and pity points as a super tortured Sue, or when a Sue's creator has been criticized as having created a Mary Sue, so they need to 'show the haters' that that's not true. Alice from Resident Evil has plenty of people who hate her, but only until she needs to 'suffer', and then Mila's husband tosses in brainwashing or something to force it. That doesn't make her not a Mary Sue, it just makes it bad and defensive writing for a Mary Sue.

@theeldrichvoid8 ай бұрын
I don't think Alastor had a preexisting issue with Lucifer that caused him to lash out when they met, per se. He dislikes other men in general - this is a consistent piece of his character, given that he has much better relationships with women (Rosie, Mimzy, Charlie, Niffty, to name a few) than he does with any of the men we've seen him interact with (Husk, Angel Dust, Lucifer, Sir Pentious), Zestial being the one exception I can think of off the top of my head, and even that seemed borne out of wariness than anything else. With other men, he is either grudgingly neutral or downright vicious from the second he meets them, while with women he mostly seems to be either neutral or incredibly gentlemanly unless given significant reason to dislike them (Vaggie being a prime example of this). Regardless of the reason/s behind this, it puts into perspective the larger picture. He seems to like other men, subconsciously or not, to 'know their place' around him and is especially harsh on those who, for whatever reason, are dismissive or rude to him. Therefore, when Lucifer took about two seconds to learn who he was and then mocked him, Alastor happily hit back at him. And of course, there's also the fact that Lucifer taking exception to his continued influence over Charlie would be a *massive* threat to whatever plans he's got brewing in the background. (My personal take is that whether, as hinted in his conversation with Niffty, he's truly grown fond of the Hotel crew/Charlie specifically, he lured her into a 'favor' because Lilith currently owns his soul, and he intends to bargain with her using the fact that he has some level of power over Charlie to do so.) Alastor is definitely nothing if not motivated by self-interest, after all. That doesn't mean he's heartless, though, or that he lacks the capacity to form strong and meaningful emotional connections with others. Hell, Mimzy doesn't treat him with nearly the level of respect he demands from others, and where he'd have torn just about anybody else apart he simply lets her yell at him and even scold him like a child. And he and Rosie basically act like a platonic married couple, for goodness sakes! It makes sense that even he'd be happy for Charlie when she's over the moon to have her bio dad back in her life, whatever his feelings about Lucifer, especially when he does seem to have developed a genuine fondness for her - like a protege or niece.

@@theeldrichvoid It's so nice to see a take from someone else who picks up on the subtle aspects of Alastor's reactions to others, especially the genuine wariness Zestial caused (which just makes him an even more interesting character than he already is). Agree about his noticeably different responses toward men versus women. It's interesting trying to figure out where the plotting ends & genuine behavior begins. He was definitely happy for Charlie to make up with her Dad, even if Lucifer creates a major obstacle to him being able to manipulate Charlie (especially if Lucifer does now live with them, as it appears may be the case given the new 'apple themed penthouse' atop the new hotel, definitely looks more his style than Charlie's, even if she borrowed it for the battle shield...if not 'live there', then at least visit way more often). Charlie has a lot of parallels to Steven -Both are ‘heir to thrones’ -Their mother’s were not involved with a portion of their lives -They have a positive view of their mother at the beginning but changed as the show went on (At least with Rose and Lilith might get the same treatment) -Both of them live w/o their dad but are beginning to see them more often as the show goes on -They have defended their home world from an invading force that has some kind of relationship with them and their family -Both of them try to see the good in people to make them change their ways -Both are half breeds between an ‘immortal’ and a ‘mortal’ -Both are considered powerful and high ranking ( Steven has Pink Diamond’s gem while Charlie is the Princess of Hell and is second only to Lucifer) -Most importantly, both of them try to fix other people’s problem’s while neglecting themselves. My personal theory? Charlie's purpose is going to basically be to rip the whole system apart - heaven, hell, the lot of it, with different folks pushing her to do it in different ways for different ends. Being he child of Lucifer makes her, by some traditions, the anti-christ. Consider: the successful redemption of Sir Pentious, an act that just entirely bypassed the angels, did a lot more than break the justification for the exterminations, it breaks the most fundamental assumptions that the folks in charge have had over what heaven and hell are and how they work, or are supposed to work. The most fundamental idea: that there's good and evil, they're absolute, you're either one or the other with a perfectly clear distinction just went right out the window. The entire foundation of heaven's assumption of absolute righteousness just got tossed out the window. Heaven's claim to perfection just evaporated. And she threatens a large part of the hierarchy of Hell too. Some will be fine with change, but many of the infernal powers are very invested in keeping their peons in place. The more overtly control-oriented ones are going to be /pissed/ if their peons suddenly go "hold on, if I change my ways, I can escape this asshole?" Charie's simple vision has shattered the balance, and things are going to go totally sideways.

Regarding Lilith. I think Viv the creator of the show is deliberately trying to create a sense of uncertainty about Lilith. In things she shows about her she presents her in ominous tones. Or doing seemingly cruel actions. I think this is a deliberate misdirect and it is my contention that Lilith has always been on Charlie's side and is still probably in love with Lucifer. Let me explain. So the scene in the flashback where Lilith takes Charlie away from Lucifer. Keep in mind Lucifer is in the depths of depression. His faith in humanity has been smashed and his dreams have all turned to ash. These are not good topics for him. Charlie knows about his dreams but it is likely she heard them first from Lilith. And when he is able to see her she probably wants to hear more about his past and his dreams. Which because he does love her he cannot help but tell her about them. But this will cause him to be even further crushed by his feelings of failure. Thus Lilith would limit the time Charlie could spend with him out of mercy. It was not her leaving. But her showing compassion to her husband. As to what she is doing in Heaven.... first of all lets see her through Charlie's eyes. Charlie claims she is doing the Hotel based on her mother's previous actions. Her father has no faith in humanity. They are a lost cause to him. But Lilith was trying to rally the sinners of Hell. But I suspect she was opposed by the more predatory Overlords and Heaven on principle. And because Lucifer could not be drawn into doing anything for the sinners she needed an ally. As her powers seem to be based around singing and manipulating minds she needed muscle to go against the entrenched Overlords. Thus she snagged Alastor when he arrived in Hell. He probably had a penchant for killing uncivil people so when she offered him power to go after the biggest uncivil Overlords he gave up his soul for it. And he cleared out most of the big players in the Overlords. But The Vees rose quickly to take their place. And when Alastor came for Vox he was fought to a standstill. Forced to retreat to lick his wounds Lilith found herself uncovered. It was then that Heaven sent Adam to confront her. Heaven wanted her shut down. They didn't care how. But Adam had his own agenda. Eve had been missing ever since she died (probably in Hell due to eating the Apple). And he was still pissed about what happened when Lilith turned her back on him. So he demanded that Lilith join him in Heaven or he and his Army would come for young Charlie. Cornered Lilith agreed. Lucifer was probably part of the deal as well further crushing him. And the deal was struck that the exterminators would not target Charlie or any of the Hellborn. Then when Adam dies Lute goes back to Heaven and tells Lilith that he is gone and the deal is over. And she tells her that Heaven now sees Charlie as a threat and they are going to come after her if Lilith does not go back down there and get her unders control.

Like I know it's only one line by val in a random conversation but I think it could reference Alastor owing his soul through a contract in some way (contracts between skilled overlords are probably a bit more complex than normal ones and as we know a deal does not have to include one's own soul. Hi. I was working with a Sumerologist a while back and the topic of Lilith arose. You might be interested in his explanation: "In Sumerian, "lil" is a type of ghost, the spirit of an unburied deceased. In Akkadian it's lilu, feminine lilitu. In addition there's the "girl of lil" (sum. kiskil lila, akk. ardat-lili), which is that one of the epic. Beside that, they are mainly known from ritual texts dealing with different demons." They're sort of restless ghosts that haunt the wild abandoned places and feed off others. I guess a bit like the hungry ghosts of many fables around the world. Apparently Gilgamesh himself is listed as 'the son of a lil-demon' in the Sumerian King List, though not in other sources.

I can see this all happening super easily.

Interestingly enough, in original Christian mythology, Lucifer was never involved with eden outside of being jealous of the humans and thus rebelling. The apple? That was a snake which had legs in eden. The punishment for the snake was to lose the legs. Another interesting bit is that "satan" isn't a single entity. It's a description of sorts meaning something of the lines of "accuser". Then there's the devil which I'm not even sure if that entity is ever even mentioned in the original books at all. Ultimately, thinking that the devil/satan/lucifer is the actual big bad in the bible, let alone the same being, isn't even correct. If anything the only somewhat reoccurring "big bad" in the bible is the second leviathan. Before the creation of the world there were the two leviathans of which god slew one before beginning creation and imprisoned the other. The leviathan is also referred to as a dragon and at the time of the Armageddon the dragon returns together with the beast which is a distinctly different creature too.
@Youaveragecountryhumansfan8 ай бұрын
As a Christian myself, Satan is only ever mentioned in the Bible as being overthrown by Jesus and God. As far as I know, most Christians don’t even consider the book that talks about Satan having been a fallen angel as part of the Bible. We call it Christian inspired mythology, and at least in the Lutheran branch it’s not considered to be a thing that really happened.

For those that don’t know Charlie is nephalem A nephalem is a Angel/Demon Hybrid This creature appears in various forms of media, and has been described as the offspring of both an angel and a demon, but they can also be an angel/demon that possesses demonic/angelic powers. However, users of this power will have the potential to become more powerful than either side. This is due to the fact that said spirit would be neutral and possess power from the forces of both light and darkness. These beings are based on the nephilim, the hybrid offspring of an angel and a human, with the only difference being that both parents are immortal spirits. (Note: However, if the user who actually obtains this power is human, or alternatively a nephalem mates with a human, they will become/technically have a born child that would be just like the "nephilim". In fact they would be an angel/demon/human hybrid.) In terms of Moral alignment, nephalems are mainly neutral, some others may also be considered wild cards, going to the side of good, evil or anywhere in between. The same can also be said for the personality of said being. As for appearances, the wielders form can have unique features from both sides of their heritage such as small horns and/or a halo, some having eyeballs that are from an angel and a demon, sometimes having both a demonic and angelic wing on either side of their backs, and a supernatural, glowing aura that displays their divine status. At least in terms of deviating depictions, nephalems could be the embodiment of chaos, where they basically tend to value freedom over order. In another perspective, since they are hybrids of demons and angels, they can embody both order and chaos, which is when they tend to balance both chaos and order to make the rest of existence more compromising and pleasant, as well as for the sake of creating true harmony. This sort of depiction of them are also responsible for keeping both afterlife planes in a state of balance, namely both Hell and Heaven.

15:04 Heck, to add another one to the list. Dante, Vergil, and especially Nero from the Devil May Cry series. Now, they're half demon (or quarter demon in Nero's case.) But, this trope applies to them to a tee. Dante and Vergil are stronger than their father Sparda, and even most other big demons in the series. Then, Vergil's son, Nero, ended up more powerful than Vergil AND Dante potentially. Since he stopped an attack from both of them with just a hand for each sibling.... It's interesting how this trope came to be. But, I also really like it too.

While interesting, lilith is not actually in the bible. She was in some side writing that includes the mythology of things like the jewish golem. None of which is considered part of the religion. It is like accepting a fan fict of a character as the canon work. Also a key aspect to said mythology is that she murdered her child with Adam.

One thing that I found interesting is when Lucifer showed up to fight Adam in the finale. He didn't appear until AFTER Charlie was attacked by Adam. Adam had mentioned in "Hell is Forever" that the Hellborn are safe from the exterminations, so what if that was part of Lilith's deal with Adam? I also really want to know when the exterminations started. Were they started within Charlie's lifetime? (and exactly how old is she???? ) Were the exterminations a direct reaction to whatever Lucifer tried first? Season two is going to have some major questions to answer, I can't wait.
