I listen to this often. And every time it cranks up I burst into tears. I don't know why. It feels so very life affirming when life is really so very difficult.

This seemed pretty special in 1990, and now in 2023 even more so.

Quite simply the most intelligent, creative and artistic band on Flying Nun. The band which had all the best songs. Oddly they were never really championed as much as they should have been. Band reunions happen far too frequently these days, but we are well overdue for the Able Tasmans comeback tour. Total respect.

Lindsay brought some terrific music to the airwaves. Indeed, I would say he did more to promote NZ music here in Australia, than anyone. Was proud to have also worked with him on that show for a few short years.

Wow. As a 1980s teen in middle America, I was grateful to know any NZ bands. Including this one, but x years later it's super fun to still get turned on to them again.

How the hell was this NOT a hit in America and playing on VH1, etc., back in the day? This is quite a treasure to behold! Such a great song, sort of reminds me of Mike Garson a little bit with the piano keyboard playing. Great work.

Im really stoaked the tube led me to here, I remember this band back in the day, Cant say I was into it way back in 1990, Flying Nun music was a little to whack for me (way back then), Its interesting how your appreciation for music can change over time songs like this I heard many moons ago can spark an interest today,This is such a well constructed song, its sophisticated and it cranks, and the bass player is not to shabby either ha ha lol Long live kiwi music

My favorite song right now! The sound is awesome. The 9-strong band on 6 different instruments makes this relatively short song a complete hymn to their name Able Tasmans. They were definitely able to make it into my all time No.5 songs.

+Martin Ambrose Ellis Haha! I can answer that for you, I was singing the backing vocals. Pip had wanted to me to bring my synth along but I had refused, I didn't play it at all in this song and the concept of faking it just didn't sit well with me, I wasn't having it. As a result it was something of a sore point between us during filming, disobey the director at your peril. She did a fantastic job of this though and I bare her memory no ill will. Most footage of what I was doing however ended up on the editing floor. And I can't say I blame her, there were far more interesting shots to be had than some disagreeable bruiser warbling away in the background.

@@m3chanist650 Thanks for clarifying this. Actually, I think your performance (seemingly standing there and singing the odd word of the backing vocals) kind of adds to the interest of the video. It's a great video and song. :)
