Probably the most useful video about Ableton I've seen. wow. Not only was the info on EQ's exactly what I was looking for but the context in which you put it into was major for me! Thx man!

Completely agree: very cleverly designed channel style EQ that is sufficient for most mixing tasks. Let's not forget that the hyped SSL channel EQ that was found in the original SSL consoles and has often been emulated in software is actually less capable than Ableton's new Channel EQ device!

Nice, I've been looking for a simple graphical EQ in ableton for exactly the use case of this channel EQ. I totally agree with you that it's easy to overthink EQ and overdo it if you aren't careful. Never knew about this one! Thanks for sharing.

this explains a lot. I was wondering what happened to the eq 8 but i know now I am on the right path. nothing beats channel eq

Thank you so much, so I should be fine with just Channel EQ rather than using EQ three or eight?
@joshuajaimes1214 жыл бұрын
Also noticed my guitar tone was a heck of a lot b ed better just using EQ. Thanks again!
@basskleph2 жыл бұрын
Most likely, yes. I wouldn't recommend EQ3. It is really made for DJing. So it's a choice between Channel EQ and EQ8. I think Channel EQ is perfect for 90% of the time. It is also fast and easy. There might occasionally be a time where you need extra bands/options and that is what EQ8 is for.

Totally agree about people obsessing over surgical cuts without really knowing what they're doing, fatiguing themselves and not working on a great track. If you are writing on commission the next Bond theme you'll need a specialist EQ person with loads of experience, lol. I'm not crazy about EQ 8 to begin with and had no idea how powerful channel EQ was until now.
@TheYuke3 жыл бұрын
As a beginner in Ableton this video was great since I don't feel quite comfortable yet with the eq eight and was kinda stressed out about it... Knowing that the simpler eq's can do just fine feels really good for now :)

Hey Mate. Notice you are using the small Genelecs. Are you using a sub with them?
@basskleph Жыл бұрын
We’ll spotted! I use a sabpac. I find I get more accurate results with that vs a subwoofer. Also the speakers are small only because my room is small. They need to match for acoustic reasons

seems to me this is nice for live performance and mapping your midi devices to it, but not so much for mixing of your songs. I like the point on the master channel though!

You are making tutorials? Are you fucking kidding me? You are the real MVP. been enjoying your tracks for a long time. "I'll Be OK (Superskank Remix)" was in my first mix I ever did. So about 8 years later I watch you doing a tutorial. You always have a great full sound to your songs. Love to learn some techniques!
