Thank you very much mate. I studied Music Production 5 years ago and moved on to Visual Arts and Uni before coming back to making music. I had bought at the time an APC Key 25 with Lite but lost the Serial Code over the years, which might had been useful now that I'm learning the Accordion. I have decided to get Standard with a Student discount, now that im in the last month or so of University lol. Have a great day, mate

What about drum rack capabilities between intro and standard? My buddy was saying he can't use the core library with intro to create a custom rack. Are there other limiting features like this with intro?

Live Lite advice: You can technically bypass 8 tracks by exporting your project, make a new one, import the audio from past project into a new project and basically always have unlimited tracks to use. I personally only use 8 anyways, I like being limited by it since it forces me to use good instruments.

Don't buy the Suite version if you're a total beginner, instead get Live Intro. It's all you need to get started, your first track will not sound great anyway, but that's totally normal.

I've been flipping back and forth for a long time since I have Fl Studio. I finally decided "fuck it, I'm going to buy Suite" (I bought it on a discount so it was essentially the price of Standard normally). Holy shit, it's so much better. I see what people are raving about it and the workflow difference. A huge frustration of my use of Fl Studio, was that the movement and pathways and access of the stuff (piano roll, mixer track, etc) gets very cumbersome and tiring switching back and forth constantly. With ableton, everything is on ONE PAGE. ONE PAGE. I can move a lot quicker through stuff, throw things on the rack and move on and be done. Rather than pressing Tabs a couple of times. Other stuff to mention was that it was a little awkward at first shifting to drawing notes and whatnot in Ableton, but after a couple sessions I'm used to it now and that feels more natural than my five years spent in Fl Studio. If you're a full time student or teacher and are wondering about buying Suite (and you have the money)... buy it. It'll take a couple sessions to find your way around, but eventually it'll all click nicely and this will be the best thing you've ever bought.

Thanks man. You sold me. I'm FL as well and I took 4 years off from it to learn bass and guitar. Jumped into FL20 and was getting my head scrambled again and realized the real reason I took a break from FL. It takes too long to get stuff done! I'm switching.

Nothing in the handbook that says you can't use both. I bought Live 11 and I fully plan to keep using FL studio, and MPC's DAW. Ableton is a great program, but there are just certain things I want to do with it. It really is the closest thing to Logic pro X on PC though at least in function.

As the man said in the video, it depends. When using Ableton with the Mobius plugin to turn it into a giant, flexible looping station, the 8 tracks of Lite was too limited. But the 16 tracks in Intro is more than enough, and saves me $350.

ABLETON FOR LIFE 😆🤘 I didn't like the lite because I needed more tracks because of how I mix some tracks. Ableton standard is what I own and I have bias fx plus some free sick plugins I added to Ableton. I am glad I own standard and I don't feel like I need Suite. There is some free plugins that might help you save money if you like some of them. The free plugins I currently have are Labs (has some real af sounding instruments), MT Power Kit 2 (a real af sounding drum kit with dynamic change buttons for beats put on the plugin itself if you want to use them), and Tal Noise Maker (a synth plugin with lots of presets). Ableton has such an easy to setup sample pad thing thatI have not seen in any other daw plus you could make a track just as hifi as the other famous DAWs out there. From what I have seen, ableton is now more used than FL and the interface of ableton is one of the reasons I like it the most. Ableton has also given me less errors/problems than Pro Tools and Pro Tools was just the first decent daw which is why it has been used, but you don't realky need to learn Pro Tools unless you work wiyh some top name producers/mixers and its harder to learn compared to Ableton. I hope one day logic or ableton become more used since they are easier to use than Pro Tools. You could do some of the same stuff in Ableton as Pro Tools even and I think Ableton or Logic are good choices for daws, but I prefer Abletons look compared to all the other daws I have seen. FYI Ableton is not just for edm, dubstep, trap, or electronica producing.

if you have less money to spent, but enough over a longer timespan, get the upgrade route taking all the the sales ableton is doin over the year with you. this is even more the case when u got the lite version. downside is, you have to deal with your eprsonal patience. took me 2 years to go from, in my case, intro on a sale via standard on a sale to suite on a sale. each sales provided around 20% average less money.

Great Video. Nice one Ableton. At least they have different tiers. Unlike Reason Studios which is a joke. No entry level option. Intro would suit me as I believe less is more. Too many functions/ features equals more distractions for me which can be overwhelming for me. Simple & less options means I can concentrate better. Thanks for this video. I will checkout your other videos.

for anyone wanting to make beats and music in general trust me on this, buy the intro. In my prespective beats dont take more than 12 midi racks so if your a young artist who doesnt wants to spend over 200 for a music program go for intro. It has most of the basic effects that you will ever need from eq to reverbs and compressors so basicly intro is the better option for you. It costs around 70 bucks and is suitable for anyone who wants to record in their home or studio for platforms like soundcloud and spotify. The Lite isnt terrible either when it comes to just recording. 8 racks are more than enough for recording and adlibs and for simple beats with 3 instruments and drums, its deffinetly usable. You can deffinetly make a hit with these 2 versions.

Quick question: Intro for Ableton 11 says it has 16 scenes and 16 tracks. Does this mean that I can have 16 tracks per scene, essentially having 256 audio/midi filess running in a single project (16 scenes with 16 tracks)? I know my wording is confusing. Not quite sure how to explain it in a KZbin comment. Essentially: 16 vertical scenes that each have 16 horizontal tracks, each with different audio files that correspond to each scene?

I want to buy Ableton Live 11, but it's costly (don't worry about cost my parents are ok with that). After months of research and development, I came across that if I buy Standard version and upgrade it in future to Suite, when version 12 will come (I guess) then the cost will be very high, too much high! Some people say to buy Suite in first because later it will cause a lot due to updates and upgrades. Also, if I buy Push 2 I'll get Suite with that, just some extra money. So........what do you suggest? Buy Standard or Suite?

You change the color of Launchpad lights by changing the desired notes *velocity* in your piano roll in Ableton. This guide may help you learn some different ways to change a note's velocity, which in turn will change the color of your lights on the Launchpad: www.ableton.com/en/manual/editing-midi-notes-and-velocities/ In short, one shortcut is to hold down Alt (if you're using Windows), left click on a note, and drag your mouse up or down.

@@TheSuperdoit Are there any discounts given for upgrading from lite to standard? I'm about to buy some midikeys bundled with lite and want to know if I can get an even better deal if I wait for those to ship and then upgrade to standard immediately

@@uvi_music I was wondering the same thing but if you look at the pricing, for Standard, it's 349 without discount, 244 with 30% off and 209 with 40% off, so the education discount it's not affected by the current 30% off promotion till May 20th and will always remain 209 I guess

@@uvi_music I thought the exact same thing and I even contacted the Ableton support. Sadly they said it's not possible.

Hi InspirAspir, thanks for putting this video together! I was wondering if the 70+ GB of sound effects indicated in the Ableton Live Suite package automatically came with Suite when downloading the software after purchase? I'm interested in buying Suite, however at the moment I don't have enough room on my computer for the entirety of what is included. When buying Suite, is it more of a "download what you want of the available 70 GB of sound effects," or does everything included with Suite automatically download with the software? Thanks! I thoroughly enjoy your content :)

Might be a bit late, but mybe it still helps you. Live Suite does not make you download all at once. If you buy Suite, you get access to a lot of the packs you can find on their website. Within Live you can then just press the download button on a pack and download and install it automatically, you decide which packs you want to use. There are obviously a few integrated sounds, these are the ones that come with the cheaper versions of Live, but they don't need anywhere near that space.

@@Mooooov0815 hey! It might have been late for him, but maybe you could help me? I was just wondering if intro would be good for me since all I want to do is remix and learn this stuff, never done it before and just want to make remixes of popular songs for example, also will I be able to put this onto KZbin when I'm done creating a remix? And what does send and return tracks mean? And if u still reading this lmao what does mono audio input and output channels mean?
@Mooooov0815
@Mooooov0815 4 жыл бұрын
@@mv.d.h4623 Sure, I'll do my best to help you, but please keep in mind that I'm also just a beginner. You'll technically be able to put these remixes on youtube, but I'm not sure how the KZbin copyright system handles such videos. Some artists might appreciate it, some might claim your revenue. That depends on the artist (or rather his management), but technically you'll be able to upload it. As for intro, a lot of people told me that you'll quickly be limited by the features the Into version offers, since it doesn't include a lot of samples, audio and midi effects. While the samples are less of a problem, the missing audio effects can limit you very quickly. So here are my recommendations: If you haven't already, get the 30 day trial version of Live (iirc its the Suite version). After that, you can decide if this is something you enjoy and invest some money in. If you're a student, Ableton offers a pretty good discount. If you want to buy Live with the Student discount, I'd recommend you to go for at least Standard, since I believe the discount does not apply for upgrades and you'd have to pay the full upgrade price (maybe check the Ableton support pages yourself or ask the Support). If you'd have to pay full price anyways, you can use the Into version as an entry point and upgrade to Standard afterwards, if you start to feel limited. For your last question I try to answer them as good as I know it for myself (if anyone reading this knows better, please correct if I'm wrong). Stereo and Mono are your channels, if you're using stereo you have a left and a right channel (that are also used on your speaker setup). Mono is just having a single channels. There are benefits and drawbacks to both and some are better for some scenarios, but thats way over my level. As for Send and Returns, these are used for Busses. You can group multiple tracks (samples, vsts, recordings) and send them to a bus. You can add an effect chain to the Bus channel and add the same effects to multiple tracks at the same time. This can for example be used to reduce the memory usage of Ableton (it can get quite RAM and CPU hungry), for effects, workflow and many other things. I haven't really worked with that yet since again, I'm just a beginner as well, so I don't feel like you need that at the very beginning.
