I think a lot of people do not understand the level of patience that producers have. Just cycling through an interface and constantly being aware of the current workload and not getting sidetracked or losing the workflow, inspiration and direction of a track. As well as the level of comprehension and awareness that is required to learn and excel on new hardware and software alike. As a primarily software based producer I have a great appreciation for all the MPC heads and hardware gang, because not only is it costly and bulky but interfacing requires a lot more.

@@antwaanhemisphere7956 that’s why I switched from Ableton to MPC years ago. It might not be as extremely versatile than an in the box workflow. But I can just switch it on and in 30 secs I have a beat going. The Push 3 interests me because of the stand-alone promise. Sadly it isn’t there yet. Maybe in a year?

What J is asking for is something you can do. Look up ableton drum selector. No need to buy anything just set it up save it as a drum rack add it to favorites or even in a template and boom you got it. You’ll be able to select them through macros which will be able to be seen on the screen and use those encoders on the top.

I respect both of these cats. I probably watch Bolo's content at least 2-3 times a week but this was actually my first time watching JBlack get down here on his channel, I'm usually catching him on IG and so I'm subscribed. But all this time, I had NO IDEA he was down for Ableton like this. I've been using Ableton since version 2. So when you watch the video and JBlack says basically effect that he tried Maschine and he couldnt "get" the workflow of it, and quickly Bolo says that he's "fiyah" on the Maschine? Shit, I tried the Maschine too. I tried it so much that I got 3 of the harware devices but I just couldnt wrap my head around how the software worked. Because I was soooo good with Ableton I couldnt see how Maschine was working. I've tried things (and spent LOTS OF MONEY!) over the last 20 years learning, failing, learning, loving and just HAVING FUN with these devices, and the software of it all. It's 2023 and I'm not sure if there's any other time in history when those who LOVE TO CREATE MUSIC now have soooo many choices and decisions to make with what they want to work with and what they choose to create with. Case in point: I had a Push 2 when it first came out but I ended up selling it. Why? Because I was so used to sampling and making beats with my MPC 2000XL and my 2500, then putting those audio tracks into Ableton for fleshing out. But with the Push 2, I kept wanting it to "act" like an MPC. I didnt have the patience and fortitude to put in the work so I sold it. Regardless, JBlack and Bolo are both correct - it's about what moves you, HOW you want to flow & work, what you're comfortable working with, and in the end, this is what we love to do and how we love to create. I WILL NOT be getting me Push 3 standalone but I'm getting the Push 3 controller. An excellent video by 2 of the best creators out there today! Ya'll keep doing it and keeping giving us knowledge to absorb and build on for ourselves. Peace! ✌🏿

My mpc live is amazing! Took me couple months to get the machine n workflow down. Standalone is the reason I bought the mpc. I'm a guitar looper, so now I use my loops thru the sequences ( while adding other instruments) so I needed something for backing drum beats. Not knowing the mpc does everything! Plug ins and expansions are awesome. I take them and clean up my live songs and drag to studio one. Life is good! This instrument might take some time to get used to but It looks like a complete different workflow and daw setup. Of course I'd love to have ableton but I'm poor lol

@27:40: having all your favorite stuff laid out before you when you fire up a new project is already a standard function of Ableton. Here is how it works: 1. Build a new set exactly how you want to start it: tempo, levels, audio & midi tracks filled with your samples, favorite instruments (including presets), FX chains, etc. 2. Go to Preferences> File Folder> Save current set as default.... and voilà Every time you start up a project all that stuff is already there. This should also work for the Push 3. And if not you can be 100% sure it will come within a few updates because this is simply key professional workflow.

Those who are used to the infamous 16 pad 4 bank MPC, is it possible to MIDI up to the Push 3 from ANY 16 pad MPC and be able to trigger all 64 sounds from a connected MPC if there are 64 sounds loaded on the Push by using the ABCD banks respectively? Hope that made sense. I want the Push soo badly, but I gots to have the feel of the MPC pads that I'm used to. Thanks. Bolo, I've always enjoyed your content.

Thanks for the video. Was fun to watch. The things that make Ableton Live special to Ableton devotees are the things I’m not mad about. No doubt, Ableton Live is powerful and versatile. The Push has real potential but not liking not having to pull things down over WIFI. A simpler, cheaper controller will get me what I need in Ableton Live. Not sure I want to learn something new right now. The MPC and external hardware gets me where I need to go.
